“Large elephant with vision problems”
A huge Pink Elephant with black glasses at a gas stop. The Elephant in DeForest, aka "Pinkie", stands at a Citgo station. In the late 1970s, this was an ARCO station - one of several ARCO stations in the area with pink elephant statues. This is the last one left.
This is NOT the last one left. I actually have a list of over 20 across the country. A lot of them have been bought by other companies to sit in front of their buildings. I am quite obsessed with them.
Great photo op during a gas stop. Good for children and cheezy adults who like to torture kids with silly photo ops.
Fun little stop. Took gun pictures with the family. Added bonus they sell "Pinkie" stickers inside for my scrapbook.
Great photo op and gas station has souvenirs!!
The elephant is there at the shell station. Pretty cool!
Elephant is there. A two second stop but worth it to see the hipster/Harry Carrey elephant.
The Citgo Station is closed and the elephant is not longer there. Couldn't find someone to ask for :(
Cute. We needed gas so where better to stop. The kids got to stretch their legs and take a photo on a pink elephants trunk. What more could you ask for??
We loved the pink elephant and that we could climb on its trunk for pictures!
Whenever I have gone from Mpls to Milwaukee or the Madison, I stop here, we used to stop when I was a kid, I LOVED PINKIE! Now I take my kids there!
