Simple but clean, quiet, and well cared for. Staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us, even when we locked ourselves out. Thankful to the young hostess who recommended a perfect overlook at Makoshika State Park to go stargazing.
This is a must. Stop and enjoy the panoramic views and enjoy this preview of the rest of Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Whether you're coming, going, or you just enjoying this one view, it's worth the stop.
Been on my bucket list and should be on yours, too. We came in early June and the grass and flowers were spectacular. Did one drive through on the southern loop and saw bison, wild horses, a coyote, prairie dogs and birds. As an added bonus saw fewer tourists than most other National Parks we've visited, but every human being we came across was having as wonderful of a time as we were.
Don't miss Buck Hill Trail. It's not on some tour guides, but what a view! Also a great panorama at Boicourt Overlook. Both are just a short hike up and down the hill. Open your windows on a warm day at Prairie Dog Village, and they might chatter with you a bit.
We planned on an hour drive and ended up spending half a day wishing we had more time here.
Find a small hotel or campsite for the night and then drive into a dark canyon somewhere and enjoy the stars like you haven't seen them in years. We enjoyed the sky show just across the border into Montana.
It's no wonder Teddy Roosevelt came back to this place so often. Don't miss out.
A nice place to stretch, walk around the cute village and museum and snap a pictureor two. Be sure to look for the bison on the hillsides below.
Good place to stretch your legs for a minute and check out something different. Bathrooms across the street at the gas station.
Easy access to the airport. Good stay for the price.
Why is this in Wisconsin? Beartooth and Yellowstone are in Montana/Wyoming. I'm looking for Wisconsin National Parks and Monuments and this is only confusing?
Magnificent view. A great place to look for wildlife and see some beautiful national forest.
Beautiful view of the San Rafael Swell. Minimal accommodations but a great place to view the scenery, climb around a little, and stretch the legs.
What a wonderful surprise on our long drive. We stopped here to stretch our legs and found a gem. Great chocolate. The young lady who guided us through the tasting knew what she was talking about and guided us through a fantastic experience. Definitely worth the short trip off the path.
