Spent a week here while exploring Elko and the surrounding area. Friendly staff, very nice bar and restaurant on site. Sites are clean and level, gravel. Full 20/30/50 electric at all sites. No issues with parking, most are pull through sites.

Lots of full timers here; this is a migratory mining town. Monthly folks are separated for the most part from campers.

This is Elko, NV, literally along the transcontinental railroad. You will hear a train horn for the crossing, but this site is up on the hill and not right in the blast zone of the horn.

Located next to the US Post Office, the park sits atop the hills of Goldfield with a beautiful view of what once was Nevada’s largest city. This former mining town was wiped almost clean by fires in 1923, but what remains is a well preserved bit of history, and it’s obvious the locals take pride.

Sites are dirt/gravel, wide, and very long - my 27 foot trailer and F-150 barely take a 1/3rd of the length. Reasonably even sites. 50 amp circuit, full hookups, well maintained. Site markers use some of the old stuff left from the miners, so you’ll see rusty old cans and relics at the trees at the front and back of each site. 12 total sites, very private.

Easy walking distance to the historical sites of downtown.

If you are coming in from the south, be sure to stop in Beaty NV for gas. From the north, Tonopah. There are NO gas or groceries in town. Also speed limit in town is 25 - FOLLOW IT. Rural Nevada down US 95 gets almost all of its income from speed traps.

Side note: It appears that there’s some sort of rivalry between This place and Clark’s Custom Camp right down the street, one sided. Clark’s put up a sign as you enter the park saying you missed the park and to turn around. This is a bit childish IMHO, and Goldfield RV Park is as nice as Clark’s, has wider and longer spaces than Clark’s, is off the highway, and is very comfortable and quiet.

T-mobile and Verizon note: You may need to allow roaming for your device here. IDK why. Works fine as soon as you say yea, go ahead, “roam” on Verizon here in the US. Insert shrug here.

I don't want to dis a small family owned business that has been around since 1936. But there's little things that make the difference between a "welp, we were stuck here and we already paid" and "that was a really nice place." That all comes down to care and attention.

After reading an earlier review saying they didn't pay attention to online reservations, took the effort to call. Got a nice young gentleman (assuming that's one of the sons or grandsons) who took my dates for the reservation, a credit card number to hold, what type of equipment we had, what type of site we wanted, did we want cable TV. Cool.

Got to the park, sign on the door, out working in the park, and again, all good and cool. It's a small private park, assuming we're up to something, call the number, nice lady came over.

So the first thing is that the reservation is wrong. Only put down one night when we needed four. Second, the lady said it was a 20% cash discount - $35 a night - if we didn't use our credit card. Why not, even the president doesn't pay taxes, might as well enjoy a discount. Did we want cable TV. Okay, now it's getting weird - did you just sort of lose the reservation? Site map, drive around this way, and thank you.

Get to the site, and we're now in a 30 amp circuit instead of the requested 50. Welp, whatever. At least it's away from the road - NOPE, you're within 1/8th of a mile of I-80 AND the main transcontinental railway Union Pacific line with a mandatory horn (two short, so it's not a crossing, so not sure what they are doing). 50 amp circuits are in the front. Office is closed now. Well, whatever, and we paid cash.

Sites are gravel and fairly level, reasonably sized, and the land is reasonably well maintained and clean. Signage around the park especially how to get out is bad - had multiple rigs have to drive through empty sites to figure how to get out while we were here. Neighborhood is pretty dumpy - car repair shops, abandoned gas stations, abandoned old motels. Pilot station is half a block down, Mexican restaurant with zero cares about COVID, social distancing, health, changing fryolator oil (whuff, just the stink of it from outside, dang) is next door.

But if you need a place to sleep overnight, it's fine.

We stayed off season here on our way to Ely and Elko to visit northern Nevada. Beautiful views of the canyon. They're in the process of building a new restroom and laundry room facility (January 2020). Owners live on site and are very friendly. Crushed stone drive and sites, large old trees dot the sites to provide shade on hot days. Price was $25 for a 50 amp pull through site with full hookups, picnic table. You'll need to bring your own fire ring.

Caliente is an old water stop for the Union Pacific, so keep that in mind; you're in a canyon with an active train line about 1/4th of a mile away. There will be an occasional train horn, but there's only one crossing in town so muted and not often.

After booking a 60’ pull through space for a new toy hauler we’re taking on a maiden voyage, we got in to find ourselves assigned to a 20’ pull in space for a camper van. This is after confirming online, calling into the park the week before, and talking to “David” the alleged manager. Oh and paying the full amount for the “premium” space in advance.

Turns out that Thousand Trails call center had given away our spot to a tour group of Camping America RVs. So 13 of these 22’ rental RVs took all of the pull through spaces.

Great.

Walk inside, very nice person behind the desk was apologetic and found a 40’ back in space. Except the berm and limited width of the road was designed for a pull in RV. Great. Back to the office. Only other space is a pull in in their long term area. So now my premium space is a no space for an awning, on top of your neighbor, walking over your septic pipes because the hookups are backwards.

Then the gall to send an email the next day to say that we should join Thousand Trails and give them more money.

I’ve gone to this park over multiple years as it’s the closest place to SF for work. The pool for 4 years has never been open. The sites have poor electrical hookups due to years of neglect being on the ocean. The WiFi, lol, nope.

If you have any other option, avoid this park.

A big beautiful man made lake with a dam on the eastern side of the waterway formed from the Yellowstone River is the feature of this park with boat rentals, fishing, an extensive and well maintained trail system, and a campground featuring tent, primitive RV back-in spots, or RV spots with 50/30/20 electrical. Water is available at the ranger station at the far western side of the park or a currently very slow fresh water fill at the free dump station. Generously sprinkled around the campground are water fountains and faucets, but none of the faucets have a threaded connection for a hose. Bring a water bladder for longer stays or be prepared to move the rig a few times to dump, fill, repeat. Vault toilets available throughout the campground; a single building on the western side of the campground has flush toilets and showers available.

Daily rate is in addition to the mandatory Wisconsin state park vehicle admission stickers which as of time of writing were $38 for an annual pass for non residents. See https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission for full details.

Sites to the east (1-36) for RVs almost all have power, and those that have power feature 50/30/20 electrical pedestals.

Cell phone service is spotty at best (you're in the middle of Amish country here, not a big iPhone using crowd). T-Mobile is roaming, so data does not work but has full bars. Verizon is 1-2 bars at best, occasionally dropping to Extended 3G, usually no data. Sprint, LOL nope. AT&T was full bars 8 Mb/s down.

A state park owned shooting range is about 2 miles away from the campground in the distance, but during the day you can hear the occasional pops of a firearm if the wind is blowing right or if someone decides they want to bump fire their "definitely not a full automatic" rifle. Don't panic, it's quite far away.

Wow, you cannot go wrong with a state campground for value. Normal site was $25 a night (we got an upgraded 50 amp site for an extra $5 and $4 of online booking fees.) While we were staying in the COVID hot times, the cabins are open and being sanitized between visits, bathhouses are open but masks required.

Sites are beautiful wooded level lots with a fire ring and a picnic table. Easy access from Route 13 and on site camp staff. Ample spacing between sites. Also a kids water park is on the other side of the park - your parking pass for the campground will cover the entire park for the day and day after your stay ends if you visit another park in DE.

Will definitely return when it’s safe to... you know, see people.

If your idea of camping includes full hookups, pool, hot tub, kitchen facilities open to all, immaculately clean showers, a massive maintenance team taking care of the park, and a restaurant with a bar, boy have you found your place. Everything about this facility screams beautiful and loved. There's a bit of construction going on by the pool right now, but otherwise the place is old growth trees, well manicured sites... heck they have a street sweeper that runs through the property and sites to keep stuff clean.

Only downfall of this location is its in a bowl surrounded by two highways and an avenue. The highway noise is noticeable outside, but you're in suburban Chula Vista, not a national park. Navy helicopters go overhead occasionally; again, you're within spitting distance of Pacific command.

Wide and open gravel sites, nicely maintained. Bring your own fire ring; sites do not have them. Most sites have nice picnic tables. Bathroom is dated but very well maintained and clean. Spectacular views. Very nice staff.

If you’re towing, recommend you ignore Siri - come in via Meadview Blvd and Sandy Point Dr to avoid as much gravel road as you can. Access to campground is gravel.

AT&T note - interior camper was no service, with Wilson exterior antenna was 3 bars. Be prepared.

Error on the listing - 30 amp sites - we paid for a 30/50 but got a 30 only site.

The place is nice, the staff is friendly, the sites are level and flat, there's a pool and a 24 hour laundry room. But the trouble is that it's $50-60 a night for an always full KOA Journey with limited services. For example, we needed to stay in town for work and have network access, and we're on a 30 amp with no sewer and it's $52 a night.

I don't fault the place or the owners for that. It's been almost full to the brim every night we've been here. So hey, if you're full, raise the prices and take the money. If you're needing an escape from the heat or laundry, a night isn't terrible. But if you're just driving through and can dry camp, there's plenty of places in town like the Sapp Bros. station, the Pilot station, a Walmart...

Only major complaint is the noise at this location. We're directly sandwiched by I-80 with no protective tree cover, a construction zone for a new warehouse, a repair facility for Volvo trucks, and the main transcontinental line of Union Pacific. Some trees would provide some desperately needed shade and noise reduction.
