Everything was great except the idiot running his open air generator all night! We called before hand just to make sure overnight parking was allowed. As we entered the parking lot we encountered security and inquired where to park. He directed to the very back of the lot which happened to be very level and quite a distance from the store so basically secluded. Had several semi’s park by us. The security personnel was very nice and apologized for having to drive by all the time as he had to scan a bar code on the pole we originally parked by. We moved over a few lanes anyway because of the travel trailer next to us running their generator. The Walmart was a nice clean store. Our only issue was Apple Maps had us turning left away from Walmart.

It was the perfect spot to say goodbye to Colorado! We were the only ones here. Reservoir was a beautiful setting and we had an awesome sunset. Heard the coyotes and owls after dark. Is next to the road but after sunset there wasn’t too much traffic. Found a level spot and didn’t need to unhook.

Arrived before noon in hopes of getting a site as first come first serve. Being late September and the middle of the week was no problem. Had a great pull through spot with a view of Great Sand Dunes National Park. Site was mostly level. The picnic table had a shade cover. Every site had electric. We were surprised that it was 50 amp. Sites were far apart. Could have stayed much longer! Have to buy a SWA permit to stay at the campground, $10 a night or $10.95 for the year for non-residents. What a bargain! No water in the park but does have garbage and a dumb station.

Beautiful setting in the mountains. Had a nice long level site. Due to the time of year the campground was mostly empty. Did not try the park’s WiFi as used Starlink. We had full hookups. If you want a campfire you must bring your own device as elevated ones are the only kind allowed. The lady at registration was very sweet and helpful. Did take a couple phone calls to reach someone to make a reservation. Keep trying, it’s worth it!

Stayed one night. Might be one of the nicest city campground we’ve ever stayed at. Trees for shade, concrete pads and 30 and 50 amp electric. Everything was very clean and well groomed. Bathrooms were the typical campground bathrooms. Loved that it was right next to the Cowboy Trail. Only downside is got mostly 3G service through AT&T.

We did not actually stay here. Beautiful sites, nice looking small campground with sites spaced out. We arrived on a Thursday only to find half the sites had cars parked in them with no one there. Asked a camper what was the deal. She said they were “saved” for the weekend. So much for first come, first served…

Stayed here for one night. Sites were hard to decipher so picked some grass that looked like a site, next to the creek. Was able to find a level spot. No other campers in the park till after dark when a van and a Class C found spots and left at sunrise. Flies and stickers were numerous. We’ve been traveling through North and South Dakota and have encountered a lot of flies…. There was a lot of local traffic that came through the park just for a drive, we think. But did not notice any after we went to bed. Price was right ($5), area prettier than the two private campgrounds and close to the Cowboy Trail. Would stay again.
