This is another Fairground that has gotten smart and realized they can monetize their campsites all year. You can reserve online or call, but need to plan ahead for weekends because they only approve during regular business hours. Easy access from the freeway, recommend using the N Alder St entrance off of University Way. Most sites are on grass, a few are on pavement. Check the grass before driving on it, sprinklers were in full force when we arrived and made some spots muddy. Showers were clean (on the ladies side) and located near the "Old Town" section. It was nice to have electricity, it gets HOT on the eastern side of the Cascades. We'd definitely stop again. The fair and rodeo are held over Labor Day weekend, so don't plan on being anywhere in Ellensburg that weekend unless you're going to the fair/rodeo and staying elsewhere. They don't rent to individuals during that time.

We stayed here one night on the way through. It was late June and temps were HOT - so we ran the generator all night to cool off the coach. Didn't hear any noise over that and the A/Cs running, and we didn't notice any smell, so the wind must have been favorable. The food is good at the Thunder Cafe, the buffet was still closed due to Covid rules. There's no kiddie menu, they have to order from the regular menu, so be aware the portions are large. Better if they can share yours - our granddaughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious, but 3 huge dinner-plate-sized pancakes meant there was enough for all our breakfasts the next day!

Security drove by, but never stopped so we never got a tag and no one bothered us. The last time we were here was January, and it was a good stop then too. We'd stay again.

While there is an "RV Park" here, it looks like 4 small sites, and we were told they were 110 electric. I had seen they welcomed boondockers, so we asked if we could stay the night. They had us park on the other side of a row of tall white stumps, out of the way so others could still get by. We scored the shade of a very large tree, which helped with the 105-degree sun beating down on us.
While the trailer cooled off using our generator to run the AC, we went inside for some cold drinks. We visited with the jack-of-all-trades guy who was tending bar, answering phones, and checking in hotel guests. Super-friendly and competent, he really made our afternoon. The grill was closed because the cook had to clean and prep hotel rooms - not enough staff, it would appear, because they were booked on that Saturday night.
There's an RV park across the street with FHU at $40, but it didn't look like we'd fit, and we're glad we stayed where we did. We left a huge tip for the one-armed guy, who would put most millennials to shame with his work ethic and abilities. We would definitely stay again if passing through (chances are slim, but you never know). And we'd hope to see him again, maybe owning the place which is his goal. We bet he'll achieve it!

We stopped here for an overnight between Escalante and Denver to check out Goblin Valley State Park, where we have reservations next month. We like to see if we'll fit when we have the chance. The ranger was nice and let us drive through Goblin Valley without charging us. This BLM campground is just a wide-open lot, which they call the "People Pasture" on the BLM website. There is room for a lot of rigs, and the night we stayed, a Friday, there was a group of 3 or 4 down at the east end and a few along the south fence. We parked at the west end and had it to ourselves. Any size rig will fit with plenty of room to turn around (we're 68' connected and haul with a Freightliner HDT). There are two pit toilets, and they are very clean. The paved road ends after the petroglyphs about 1/2 mile further, and then the dirt road continues. We drove down a ways to check it out in the truck, but turned around when we decided there was no way we were taking our 45' toy hauler down it. There were several dispersed sites along the dirt road, and we could see the West Temple campground in the distance - it looked like there were a few rigs there. None were big enough for us, but if you're small...
There was quite a bit of traffic on the road all evening, trailers going by even after dark, and driving pretty fast. The same was true in the morning before we left. All-in-all a wonderful place to spend a night or a few - there are several hikes in the area that look worthwhile, we're hoping to check them out when we return.

Overnight parking is allowed in gravel lots on both sides of the casino/restaurant. No permission needed. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. The casino is non-smoking! It's billed as the only one in the state that's non-smoking (although with Covid we've now seen several casinos that have "outdoor" smoking areas and no smoking or vaping indoors). There were several semis parked in the south lot, but we didn't see anyone. It was quiet and felt safe. Easy access from the freeway. Didn't check the north lot, but it's closer to the freeway exit so I would expect it to be a bit noisier. There was a large puddle (therefore a depression) to drive through, but fairly level once you're in place at the back. We were able to easily pull in a large arc and position ourselves for backing into place. We're 68' with a Freightliner and 45' toyhauler. We didn't notice any noise, but ran the generator all night for A/C due to the excessive heat. Didn't check cell coverage, but since it's in town I would expect some carrier(s) to be OK.

We stayed here with two other friends with big fifth wheels and HDTs (heavy duty trucks). We had no issues. The road in to the campground from the highway is paved, the campground itself has gravel roads. You can park anywhere, it's like a big field in the middle (great for pull-thru) and back-ins on both sides. We were able to pull around in a big circle to park our rig instead of backing in. Fortunately there's been no rain for quite some time, otherwise it might be sketchy, we're really heavy.
Big rigs take note - DO NOT go in the first entrance. Its a sharp turn in and then a downhill and turn. Very tight to maneuver and you might damage something underneath. Take the road a little further past the campground area and come in the second entrance. Much flatter and easier. It's all dry camping, and they take donations.
Mosquitoes were out in force in June, be prepared.

We had a reservation at Appalachian and parked outside the entrance to check it out first. We think we MIGHT have been able to get into our assigned site, #303, if someone moved their vehicle and pulled in their awnings. But the entrance itself was a hard right turn into a single-lane drive with a big rock at that inside corner. We decided it wasn't worth chancing it with our 68' combo HDT and fifth wheel, so we went to Cabela's instead.
The campground itself seemed nice enough, but the pull-thrus are very close together. Not an issue for us, since we weren't there for the ambiance, but if you need that length you'll be sardined.
The people at the office were very friendly and helpful. Wish we could have stayed, but like many other Thousand Trails parks this one was built long ago and not for rigs as big as ours. If you need a place to overnight, the Cabela's about 8 miles down the freeway is a great choice. You're going to hear freeway noise either way.

Access to this KOA is down a state road and then a county road. Be prepared for no shoulders, but roads were in very good condition. Pay attention to the signs, the entrance is around a corner! It's a steep entrance, there are lots of gouge marks in the road where campers have hit. The campground is wooded, and trees are cut back well enough. Our site was ok, enough room for us to park the truck sideways in front. Since it was early May, and quite cold, the pool wasn't open yet. They have a nice selection of items in the camp store, and everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. The campground was tidy and the bathrooms/showers were spotless. Prices are higher than we usually like to pay but with our KOA discount and using our accumulated points brought it down to an acceptable amount for a 2-night stay. If you're big like us - 68' connected - be careful leaving. We think we might have tagged the stop sign as we left. We stayed here so we could tour Monticello, so we don't expect to be back, but it's a nice campground and well-cared-for.

This is a tidy campground in a canyon, a wonderful surprise. The private showers and toilet rooms were clean. Our site was easy to back into and long enough for our HDT and 45' fifth wheel, 68' total, with some room to spare. There's a park-like area up the canyon where the natural spring is located, with a playground and picnic tables and trailheads for hikes ranging from 0.2 miles to 3 miles, connecting to longer ones. The 1.5 mile loop trail probably wasn't that long, it was just a hair under 2 miles from our campsite up to the trails and around that loop and the smallest one and back to our trailer. It was SO quiet at night! The ranger was very nice and helpful. We would definitely come back. Our rate of $10 is what you pay for a hookup site with the NV Annual All-Access Pass. It would be $15 for in-state residents and $20 for out-of-state.
Cell service was virtually non-existent even though our AT&T (-116 dBm) and T-Mobile (-109 dBm) devices showed a little. They offer a paid option through Viasat, so we signed up. You can get a 1-day or 3-day plan for one device, or other options. If you choose a 1-device plan, make SURE you're on that device (router?) when you sign up. The web option to change devices never worked, nothing to even click on. It was good enough to stream with a few slow spots.
While the showers were clean, we decided not to use them because the water in the sinks never got hot - we weren't willing to chance a cold shower, although it would have only cost a quarter to find out.
The dump station is easy to access, next to the ranger hut.

We stayed at Patten Pond because I could not get a reservation at Schoodic Woods in Acadia NP. Turns out that was a blessing, as "hurricane" Lee caused the NPS to close that campground and then we'd have been in a pickle. The first site they put us in, #327, was so sloped that our front jacks were out as far as they would go with 10" of blocks under them. With a "hurricane" coming, that made us nervous so we requested a move, and they put us in #508 instead. Much better! No trees, and level. If you're in a larger rig, the sites in the 500s are your best bet. The lower level of the campground is treed, sites are VERY close together, and there are giant rocks everywhere that make corners difficult in a large rig like ours, a 46' fifth wheel pulled with a Freightliner HDT. The hosts were great, very friendly and helpful. The bathouse and showers were clean, but the shower had spiders each time I used it. It would be nice if cleaners at ALL campgrounds would look UP and clean everything! The camp store had lots of items from food to fun to essentials. We would stay again, the location on US 1 made for easy access to get around, and the driveway was long enough we didn't hear road noise. The hurricane was a non-event here, thankfully. We lost power for a short time, but it was back on by the time we woke up and our solar/batteries indicated it hadn't lasted very long.
No OTA television, but they have cable. Good cell service on AT&T and T-Mobile.
