Beautiful stop, easy to find with GPS and nice off road parking. Can swim here as well
Cheap, and easy right off of 49, but incredibly disgusting. Our non smoking room had cigarette burns in the blankets. Was treated by a roach when we first walked in our room. Walls have stains and gunk all of them.
Cute little diner, super friendly helpful staff, our waiter was GREAT. The Mac and cheese was so so delicious and the burgers and fries are amazing too.
Also ZERO phone signal in the campsite, you will need to drive to the top of the canyon to get signal.
This campground is very beautiful, the bathrooms are well maintained and new, the camp store is awesome with lots to shop from for gifts and camping needs. Only down fall is the electric hook up is hella far away from the area designated for your tent, so expect to bring a 100ft or larger extension cord should you need it. Other than that, the camp ground was great.
The address listed as well as the address in GPS will take you to the visiting center, best way to take is exit 89 and go south and you will be on the scenic road through the park. The La Ventana arch is beautiful and a short walk from the parking lot, very easy to find, and we also did the Lava Fields loop which is super beautiful, but the trail is a little hard to follow, so just a tip to follow the rock piles to know which way to go exactly!
Such a nice place to stop and take a break. The owners are super nice and gave us cookies when we checked in. The lava field walking path was neat and had lots of information of how the lava fields were formed and the surrounding mountains. Bathrooms and tent sites very clean and the food we ordered from the camp store was delish. 10/10 would stay again and recommend to anyone driving through or visiting El Malpais or the Fire and Ice volcano and caves.
