{Dates Stayed: April 17-18, 2023} One of those 'diamonds in the rough', family owned, great place for a layover. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, pull-through, gravel sites & drives. The A.B. BBQ is on site and we dined in but take-out is also offered. Menu is Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Baby Back Ribs & Chicken;{now hungry just thinking & writing about it and it's been a year since we stayed!}. The Restaurant is only open April-Sept from 4pm to 8pm. The site we stayed at was across a gravel road, not too busy. Our row was 30amp only but not a problem as we were only there overnight. The second Laundry & Restroom in our section was closed for repairs, the functioning one is up by the office. The staff is very accommodating and very pleasant. Lots of rules, but needed these days; check-out is 10:30AM not 11 like most, but can be modified. They have propane on premises. They offer Good Sam, AAA & Military Discounts.

Nice setting, lovely trees, but some sites are a bit too close to US101 traffic. Great hiking trails, the lake, mixed sites & Yurts! Some sites are hard to back into due to obstructions opposite, but most were easy. Great camp hosts, good fire pits. Great separation between most sites.

{Date Stayed: April 4-5, 2023}. Not the best CG but doable for an overnight. When we stayed it was cash only, may have changed since. Was able to make a reservation over the phone on the 3rd and got a pull-through with 50amp. Didn't have a chance to take photos.

{Date Stayed: April 13-14, 2023} Pushing through on a time-line again. Finding cheap & quick-easy one nighters, not sightseeing this time around. This, like so many other parks, has potential. Again, cash only and this time in a drop box, no owners/managers around, office locked up. Pick any empty site. Didn't use shower/restrooms. Right on the edge of town, restaurant/bar in walking distance (not visited). Dirt sites, might be a problem if heavy rains. At least we got a Pull-Through with 50amp.

Part of driveways have (apparently) new gravel as do a couple sites. At least we got a Pull-Through with 50amp.

Military (Navy) campground & Recreation Center. Facility is great, wonderful staff; motor & row boat, kayak, canoe, paddle rentals, boat ramp, nice dock facility. Swimming area, fairly decent sandy beach. Place has everything, RV, Yurt, Cabins, Tent sites. RV sites were gravel and fairly level. Bathhouse/restroom facility was very nice & up to date. No sewer hookups, just dump station. Didn't see any moose but they are around. Cell service was pretty much non-existent, perfect place to relax and be away from technology for a while. Hiking trail along brook. Road into CG is up/down hill and rough in places, gravel drives around camp.

{Dates Stayed: April 19-23, 2023} For us, probably the best park for Ogden & SLC area. Of course, you have to meet the criteria in order to stay at a Military park. We did provisioning, refreshed the tanks, laundry etc etc. Hill has paved drives and sites, all are back-in. Nice facilities, laundry, showers, restrooms; they had a rec room but we didn't use it. We did the tourist thing so we didn't 'hang-out' at the CG very much. Lot's to do everywhere, unfortunately it was in April and chilly (for us), but the weather was fine.

{Date Stayed: April 24-25, 2023} After a couple left/right uphill turns we pulled into a very nice paved RV Park. Some sites were concrete others asphalt-gravel. Not as tight spaces as some we've stayed at but kinda close; at least we had a picnic table! We were first assigned space 44 but because the length was a bit short for both our truck-trailer (64' total) and we were only there for a 1-night we petitioned to move which we were granted space 48. Facilities were really good - restrooms-showers-laundry; staff were real good to work with. Nice little store for essentials. Had we not been on a time crunch we would like to have stayed and toured the area more. Perhaps a visit when the Rodeo comes to town - "they have both kinds of music, country & western"!!

Defiantly a CG we want to visit again, perhaps in the Summer, (we stayed in October 2021). The owner & workers were super nice! One of the best RV Parks we've stayed at. Convenient to the city of Toledo and more importantly the city of Perrysburg which has all the stores (Walmart, etc). The gravel pads were ok, fairly level and the sites were large enough for privacy yet comfortable for visiting the neighbors. The restrooms & showers were a bit dated but clean & useable. Laundry had newer commercial front-loading washers & dryers. Nice small store when well stocked (end of season). The only issue would be that for the sites closest to Luckey Rd (County) might not like the traffic noise, although intermittent.

(2nd Visit - July 2022): Not much changes, although the pool is not open and is in need of repair. Same cost, same site. Mini golf could use some TLC, likewise the 'trail' has not been maintained since last year. Concrete patios but the picnic tables need to be sanded & painted.

If you're looking to get away from it all then this is the right place to camp! Don't plan on using your cell phone unless you have a directional external antenna. The cell sites are 3mi East & 3mi West and you're in a bowl. You'll have to drive to the entrance or visitor center to get a decent signal. Crappy over-the-air TV with external antenna also. Satellite is your only hope....but, you didn't come here to watch TV or Internet or make business calls all day right??? Lots of walking/bike trails, even a paved bike trail to Grayling (about 10mi). Historical logging museum & old growth forest. Very spacious sites, plenty of room for your slides without intruding on neighbors or trees; good solid foundation (but sloped from center for drainage so center your rig for the perfect level); nice grass, great fire rings. Unlike National Parks, this State Park can accommodate any size rig from monster Class A+ to your tent! The restroom/shower facility is top notch with individual room showers. Michigan DNR does know how to take care of guests!
