Found this site on Campendium on route traveling back home. Great find. Did not need A/C in the evening. Only a few vehicles passed by during our stay.

Wonderful quiet getaway in the mountains outside San Diego. During our visit in March, snow was on the ground in shaded areas. Campground was half empty and quiet. Lots of hiking and biking trails nearby. Roadside loop best for RVs. October is another good time to visit due to cooler weather and fall colors.

A resident bear looking for a snack tried to get into our rig during the night through an open window. Lock up your food. Lovely wooded surroundings and wildlife. Some noisy neighbors at night after quiet hours.

Wonderful stay. Our site was partly shaded and secluded. We had an amazing view of nearby Stonewall Peak. Lots of hiking trails in the area. Although we had to disconnect to fit our 24’ travel trailer and truck, we would definitely stay at this site again. Staff was very friendly.

We had a private double pull thru site sheltered from the ocean winds. Most of the oceanfront sites do not accommodate larger RVs. Although private we did have to deal with barking dogs in the next site over. Be considerate of others.

Our site was pretty private off the A loop. Tetons visible from this site even though it was hazy from fires out west. Saw 4 moose in the early morning hours near the amphitheater. Cell service not useable for streaming. Glad this campground is now reservable.

Small beautiful campground in need of some TLC. Our site’s driveway was not as wide as it could have been due to overgrowth. No fires of any kind due to extreme fire season. Appears camp host is gone for the season. Shower facilities still closed due to maintenance and/or Covid? If in a RV, access to Palomar Mountain better by way of Lake Henshaw.
