This is a small historic site very much off the beaten path, but if you've got a few hours to stretch your legs, very worthwhile stop. Rodney was our guide and he was outstanding, he knew a ton about the area, the buildings, its history back before the civil war all the way to present.
Good, clean hotel, with a bar, decent breakfast items, a pool, and whirlpool rooms. We enjoyed our stay, our room was extra big and the whirlpool was a great way to start the day. Front desk staff were helpful and responsive
We started the morning here and it turned out to be an awesome 90 minute stop. Good video, great guided tour, and the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have a Junior ranger program my son enjoyed. My 2 year old got bored earlier than the other 2, but the wife and I really enjoyed it and learned a ton too.
Check in was painful, and she pointed us to the wrong building. Room was not well appointed and the rooms were smaller than expected. The lack of bathrooms in each area and one small bath was disappointing. The breakfast area was super tiny and the food was average. The worst part though was the walls and ceilings, thin, the people above us took a shower at 11, sounded like they were in our room.
Sue at the front desk was amazingly helpful during check out and check in, as well as cooking a mean breakfast for us. The cleaning staff was also very helpful, and brought us several items we needed. I would have given this a perfect stay, except the mirror in our bathroom and our sink were severely stacked and the pool was too cool to swim in. Overall though the room was excellent and very spacious, also well appointed and had bathrooms in each area of the rooms. Would definitely recommend this and stay again
