Peaceful and serene, but the guy wouldn't let me in to look around b/c it was close to sunset, so can't say much more than it seemed very peaceful. There is a shooting range nearby so that was very distracting for me.
Maybe I missed something, but I thought it was a bit boring. Maybe I'll try it again and then change my review, but for now I am not really sure what's so great about it.
I really liked this park, the lake was beautiful and it looked like a really fun place to spend the day. I was only there for an hour, but what I saw was amazing. I'll be back!!
Holy moly, talk about an amazingly beautiful park. I was only passing through, but I cannot wait to go back. The park was gorgeous, they had great trails, and cabins right on the water. The girl working at the rental / snack bar place was so sweet. I can't wait to go back.
I'm not into battle sites, but this was very nicely done. It is very quaint and peaceful and had a lot of detail about each building and site. It was in the middle of nowhere, but I really liked it.
I was really disappointed with Wakonda. It's a pretty enough park if you're looking for boating, I suppose... but I got there at noon and the boat rental place hadn't yet opened. Further, every trail I tried to hike started with the traditional "blazed in..." sign, but then no blazes were evident. The trail appeared to be a road, so not sure where the trail started from where the sign was located... all in all, it wasn't worth the trip for me.
I really enjoyed this state park and the hiking and views were just amazing.
