We stayed here Memorial Day weekend 2022 with family in nearby Bulverde. The park is literally feet away from Hwy 281 so it depends on what site you get on how loud it may be, although highway traffic really tapers off at night, but is fairly busy during the day. Watch your kids as they can easily run onto the highway to play Frogger (or Crossy Road for Millennial types) from the south side of the park driveway. The frogs/crickets/nocturnal tree animals really are loud in this part of Texas but it wasn't too bothersome, but combined with the highway noise, light sleepers might want to look elsewhere if you are going to need completely quiet nights.

My site was a gravel, mostly level pull through with FHU but you will likely need sewer hose supports to ensure proper slope/drainage since the sewer connection is on a slightly elevated concrete pad (at least for #109). No cable TV available and I was able to get about 7 channels with my OTA antenna. Bathrooms and showers were clean and spacious, but other than using those amenities, we only really used the park to retire for the evenings. Wifi was just okay at my site but I got more reliable and faster service with T-Mobile all over the park so I connected mostly that way. I did stream a Vudu movie over the park Wifi and didn't have any problems.

Paige runs the park and is super friendly and accommodating when you call the main number. Looks like there is a section to the north with full timers and the park was pretty full for the holiday weekend. I have friends who lived here for a few years and love the atmosphere of the place and I see no reason to disagree. I would definitely stay here again when back in the area.

Saw this place on Campendium but mistakenly thought it was accessible before entering Texas from New Mexico. If coming East on I-10, you enter El Paso and drive a few miles in before exiting and traveling south back into New Mexico before hitting the casino/racetrack/RV parking. It's only a few minutes drive and there are good gas and food options on that road too. Once you turn into the lot, you will see the 8 spots that have water and power and there is a dump station you can use in case your $hitter's full.

We rolled up pretty late on a Thursday night (maybe 11pm?) and security immediately drove up in a golf cart and gave us instructions on how and where to register for the night inside the security office of the casino. They even offered to call the shuttle to take us the few hundred feet but we declined. It's all paved and level, and there were still 4 or 5 spots available (FCFS but there is truck parking right behind these spots in case you arrived and the hookups were full, you can still park your rig for the night dry). Power was good (50/30/20) and we cooled the camper down and got to sleep. The horse race track is about 150 feet north of the sites but we left early and didn't catch any races.

We were going to sleep at one of the I-10 rest stops in El Paso or Van Horn but decided to give this place a try and it's definitely worth the $15. Looked like a good amount of people staying at the hotel and casino and we felt pretty safe there. I would recommend staying here overnight, and I wouldn't have any problem targeting this place for your overnight stop since there is plenty of overflow rig parking in case you don't get a hookup.

Lots of trees, level areas, and fire rings. Cell signal was good and we had a spot in the woods all to ourselves. Only 10 miles to Bryce Canyon, which was packed in July during the summer of COVID, Gravel road is in pretty good condition and we were able to pull our 18 foot travel trailer easily through the area.

Quiet with no light pollution, this is one of my favorite places to boondock.

EDIT: Stayed here again in March 2021, this time in the site closest to the highway due to a snowstorm that covered the entire campground. It was well below freezing and the slush on the dirt roads turned to ice. We had another car camper pull right into our campsite because they didn't want to drive further down the road because of the storm and spent the night. Although it was a breach of camping etiquette, the weather situation made sharing the site acceptable and we made some friends. The road deeper into the site was still accessible, although you would definitely need 4WD and probably All-Terrain tires due to iced over ruts. It got harder to see the roads when covered in snow so your only choices in a snow storm could be a bit more limited. Still a fantastic place to camp, great views, and even has pit bathrooms across the highway. We went to Bryce Canyon again and it's even more wonderful there when everything's covered in snow!

Busy place in July during summer of COVID, and it’s a noisy place near Interstate 70, plus there is a pipeline storage and distribution facility next door whose automatic lights come on and off all night. The internet is spotty at best in my site, but closer to main building was better. There are no vacuum breakers on the hose bibs so beware of water cross connections.

It’s a little pricey for my taste, as I’m used to boondocking but we arrived very late and I was too tired to find dispersed camping for the night. I would pass on this location next time.

Stayed here in the middle of a heat advisory in Phoenix so 85 degrees here was immensely better than the 115 in Phoenix! No hookups at all but generators are allowed outside of quiet hours and there were many running this weekend, although the forest is pretty dense here so lots of sounds are muffled. Every single site was taken in early July and there were lots of people fishing here and a few kayakers and anglers boating on the lake too. We kayaked a few days also and fished from lots of spots but nothing bit. The camp hosts told me that AZDFG was just here and said that the temperature was too high for successful fishing and the lake hadn't been stocked since May - no surprise that we didn't catch anything then.

Bathrooms were clean enough but we did get the occasional whiff of toilet at our site but it wasn't often. Our site backed up to the forest and we pitched three additional tents for kids and adults, two hammocks, and a slack line. I like this place even though it was busy, and Williams is a short drive away for anything you might be needing. My site easily fit my 31' TT, along with my truck, plus another minivan, with room to spare, but the camp hosts did come by to let us know it was an extra $10 for an additional vehicle parked at the camp site. He told us to park the extra vehicle at the day use area to avoid the charge, but just paid the extra anyway. We were loud at night, with four total families at three different sites, but we didn't hear anyone else's campsites so I'm thinking that the forest did a great job of absorbing a lot of the sounds.

Lots of day use folks here too, so the fishing pier and shoreline fill up with fisher-people. Nice spot to beat the Phoenix heat, and I will definitely be returning in the future!

We needed a place to stay overnight between Scotts Bluff NM and Fort Laramie NHS and this place seemed to fit the bill with full hookups and showers. The sites were over grass and there was a bit of an ant problem but none got in the trailer. The bathrooms were not the cleanest but also not the dirtiest and the shower was adequate. The train comes by quite frequently and always blows its horn as it approaches and crosses an intersection across the highway so be prepared for that ALL NIGHT LONG!

The host/resident/owner was very friendly during check-in and gave us our pick of the remaining spots. The back rows were completely full but only a few in the middle were taken and no one in the front row. There are roosters and chickens in a pen to check out (kids loved them) but this was really just a place to bed down for the night and to take showers in the camper.

I would probably stay here again but you should pass on this place if you are a light sleeper as the train will likely disturb your sleep, several times an hour, all night long.

We stayed in site 41 which was on the inside of the loop but across from site 40 which appeared to have been washed out and permanently out of service. We were able to walk over to site 40 and had a great view of the Little Missouri River and spotted all sorts of wildlife and their tracks. I was able to fit my truck and travel trailer (40 feet total) in the site parked at an angle, with some cover of trees and bushes for privacy from the loop road.

Be aware that it got HOT at night in early July (90s all night) and generator hours are 8am to 8pm so be prepared to suffer a little in the heat of the night, or make accommodations for a fan of some type.

The dump station is located away from the camp, closer to the entrance road and group campsite but the flush and potable water hoses both leak at the top of the vacuum breaker and will get you wet while attached to your rig when flushing/filling, and there is low water pressure available.

Stayed here in the summer of 2021 as an overnight in between Jewel Cave NM and Theodore Roosevelt NP. Stayed in a large site on the north end that was close to some cliffs where you could check out the views, relax, and watch the sunset. We had two picnic tables at our site, which was near the north pit toilet, and there were great trees available to hang hammocks. The kiddos were able to run around and have fun while the adults relaxed a bit. There is plenty of room between campsites so our generator usage didn't impact our neighbors. It's quiet, except for wildlife sounds and some cattle moving about, and we enjoyed our stay here.

We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here late June 2022 in the upper campground section since there were a few rigs on the lower section away from the highway and I wanted to run my generators without unnecessarily disturbing anyone. It wouldn't have mattered anyway since it was super windy which drowned out all the highway noise anyway. There were a half dozen RVs down by the lake and I had the upper section completely to myself save for a big rig who stayed for a few hours in the turnaround area. The asphalt pads in the upper section all need work, as in need to be completely demolished and repaved since there are tons of broken asphalt pieces everywhere which may or may not affect your leveling attempts.

The hike down to the water is longer than it appears but my young kids did it with ease, my knees however, told me to drive down there instead. There are lots of signs indicating bighorn sheep in the area but I didn't see a single one.

I picked site 5 because it appeared to be the longest site in the upper portion that would allow me to back-in and stay attached but you can go to the lower area and find pull throughs for very large rigs. If going north to Reno, get your gas in nearby Hawthorne as it was pretty pricey before Reno, but this was June 2022 where gas was stupid high everywhere.

I liked this spot and love the BLM and its campgrounds. I would recommend and stay here again.

Stayed here when traveling from Fritch, TX to Cheyenne, OK en route to San Antonio and was very pleased with the choice! Couldn't believe it was free for one night with FHU but it was true! The RV Park is located at the large City park which has a lake, playground, pool (closed when we were here), and tons of wide open grass areas. There were a couple of baseball fields adjacent also where I ran my dog in the morning and it's close to the highway.

The whole site is paved but needed some serious weed maintenance although it was mostly smaller scrub and nothing higher than a foot. There were 4 RVs here when we arrived in mid-July, with one old unit that looked like it had been there a long time, and the others had newer rigs but had more established sites. Power was great but we didn't use water or sewer although it was easily available. The site was level and the truck and TT fit just fine at about 50 feet.

We arrived in the afternoon and went across to the park where there was some local activity at the playground and tennis courts. It seems like a nice spot to hang at for locals and tourists, but it could have really looked nice if the City cleaned out the weeds. The showers and bathrooms are what gets this rating docked a star and a half, but that rounds up to 4 stars here at Campendium and since we are fully self contained, those amenities didn't apply to us anyway.

We felt safe the entire time, even when walking the dog at night. There is gas and food close by which makes this spot an excellent pick for an overnight, but probably not for much more than that. I think it's a great move by the City to offer and maintain this place and wish more cities did things like this to bolster tourism in their areas, even if it's just encouraging gas and dining patronage. We would definitely stay here again.
