Our site had a compacted gravel pad. Several newer sites have concrete pads and a recently planted saplings. Additional sites were being leveled. The facility is a large field ringed with tall trees offering some protection from the wind off the lake.
Visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore via the thusly named cruise. Several waterfalls are within an hour drive and a short walk. If you get to Grand Marais at the far end of the National Lakeshore, dine at Lake Superior Brewing Company.

A very nice place to stay for a few days. Exceeded our expectations. Quiet, although adjacent to US-2. Forested sites, sunny sites, partially shaded. FHU and up to 50A. Sites are generously spaced. Even a playground.

The pull through site we were assigned was separated from our neighbors by two large Oleander bushes. Do not touch these bushes especially if you have a heart condition the sap could be lethal. Pets are allowed, but keep them away from the Oleander bushes which could be lethal.
Directly behind our site is a six foot fence with barbed wire separating the campground from an active industrial area with attendant noise.
This was an okay place for a night or if one had a pressing reason to be in Las Cruces.

Most of the sites are for short term (overnight) campers with 13 monthly spaces. The sites are nicely laid out.
Several sites at least on the 30 Amp side of the camp have shared pedestals for water and electric.
Sites are gravel. Staff picks up garbage from sites midmorning.
Train comes by once or twice a day. Road noise from I-74 is significant outside, but readily masked by our trailer's air conditioning while indoors.
Check out Tres Rojas winery between Eureka and Peoria.

Camp sites are arranged radially in two concentric circles with bathhouse volleyball court and trash in the center. Sites are shaded with level grass.

Sites with cable need a box loaned from the office.

Lots of activities for children plus canoe, kayak, and tube rental on the river.
Otherwise very noisy. US-63 passes behind and above sites 27, 28, and 29.
The owners are friendly and contentious.
Good hiking in the adjacent National River Area.

We tried a Premium Pull Through Site hoping for more space. Because we were assigned a site on the end of a row our right side was wide open while our left was practically atop our neighbor's patio.
Water, sewer and electric connections were widely spaced yielding long hoses.
Road noise from I-75, but not severe.

We stayed here after traveling around Atlanta.

Sites are reasonably level with FHU. Great WiFi! Reasonably quiet given its proximity to I-75. Our patio was cracked and too high for our steps. Although we had some shade from adjacent trees. The water connection was in a covered hole in the ground. The sewer connection was a couple of inches above ground a few feet from the water connection. The potential for significant health issues with this arrangement is the principal reason for my rating. A few other sites had elevated water connections.

Nice hiking at Athens Park and Eureka Rail to Trail. See All Trails for details.
