This is a giant parking lot for trucks between a highway and train track...that said it worked out great for us. Booking can be done online (https://www.truticket.com/bus_eventparking_1.aspx) or call (312) 808-3161
There were other campers (particularly on weekends, when there is also less truck traffic). There is a bathroom in the driver lounge which we used and vending.
We biked from lot all over Chicago using the Lakefront Trail, which is a real treasure!! We also picked up an Uber ride right on street out front. Overall a good experience but definitely not a place you'd want to spend time, except to sleep.

The Schoodic Penninsula has a more relaxed feel than the Mount Desert Island. This 3 year old campground addition to Acadia National Park is so well done! Sites are large, level and private. Evening programs, great biking on one-way penninsula road and hiking. Winter Harbor (close small town) has laundry, paid showers and restaurants. We watched brass being poured atUS Bells foundry, visited Darthea Farm Produce market and kayaked Jones pond.
Low cell service. $15 fee reflects senior discount (no power in campground).

A few campground loops and each has slightly different characteristics. The serviced sites are spaced close together (parking lot style) for easy pull through a and setting up, the tent loop, (close to beach) are on grassy sites under trees with little privacy and the middle loop has vegetation between sites and spacious. We had nice site with no services and were across from bathhouse (flush toilets and showers). There is a small building with picnic tables with very slow WiFi.

Campground has hot showers and flush toilets but sites are small and lack privacy. There are wonderful programs offered (both day and evening). There is WiFi at ice cream shack and visitors center. Good lake and river swimming & endless canoeing possibilities (also backcountry camping when canoeing). Mosquitoes are are problem at dawn and dusk.

We stayed in a grassy site (30 amp) under a big tree which we really liked, but most sites were lined up RV style w/no separation. There was a pool and laundry (didn't use) showers and bathrooms were clean. Close poo to highway and not far from Elkhart, which was a nice small town. The wifi reception was poor.

This is a nice area located on the river. There are only 2 tent sites and 4 RV sites. It's very busy with people trying to get a spot. 2 back in sites and 2 long pull up along edge of pavement next to river. There's a dump station, bathroom and a boat ramp. The low # of sites won't last long though, lots of construction...The city is working to improve the campground to get ready for the solar eclipse (August 21, 2017). I understand they'll be charging $100/night with a 3 night minimum!
Self service & Difficult to turn around for big rigs.

The sites are Average, many not level and most lacking privacy. We had electric only. The bathrooms & showers were clean and there was a pool and wifi however.

This is a small campground right off of I-70 exit with one restroom (clean and well kept). Showers were paid but water hot with hooks but no bench The campground host was very friendly and helpful and Good free wifi
We chose an RV site because the parking area for tents was not level enough for our van (we don’t need utilities). The RV sites were rather tightly packed and these sites were also not that level. May be challenging maneuvering a larger vehicle and trailer here.
As mentioned an expensive dump fee

Campground has mix of seasonal RVs and nightly use campers. Grassy sites with tall shade trees. Beautiful setting surrounded by cornfields. Met with friendly new owners who are working on improvements, more playgrounds, cabins... Sites are mixed (couple pull throughs) most on grass, which can be soft.
Canal location is great for biking and kayaking on canal (kayak rentals available at office). Boat launch, dock, Laundry, dump station & water and electric at sites.

Our site had a Great Lake view with water and electric. Beautiful lake with swimming and boating (non-motorized). There are meals available (when open on the weekend) which were good and reasonably priced. The bathhouse was basic and clean. Cindy and Al we’re attentive and very friendly! We love it here and will be back.
This campground caters to Squaredance groups - there are two dance halls and there’s simple lodging for non-campers. There is WiFi, but it wasn’t working well when we were there. Cell service is limited.
