So nice to hear a rooster crow in the morning too. Very friendly campers and Joan May couldn’t have been nicer! Would definitely return on future trips!
Nice place. Great stop on our way toward Sioux Falls.
We spent the night here on our return trip back to Ohio while vacationing out west. This campground will not allow campers to check in after 9pm.
Our site was nice and the grounds were wonderful. However, despite being told to run the water to clear out sediments, we still had a light brownish red water running into the camper. No smell to the water, just a cloudy appearance. The campground owner/host was very nice to deal with and we were escorted via golf cart to our campsite. We had a very pleasant experience and I would stay here again.

We were going to stay only 1 day but it was such a pleasant experience we decided to extend our stay. This allowed us to explore the Hennepin Canal Trail in both directions. The campground is right off the canal which made for easy access to the trail. The campground was well maintained, very pretty, reasonably priced with great hosts. We couldn’t ask for more and even the weather cooperated Great Experience!

When we arrived the sweetest lady offered my kids some otter pops. Then escorted us to a beautiful pull through right by the park. My kids loved the park and catching fireflies by the corn field at night. It was so quiet and peaceful for being so close to the freeway. We stayed just a night but would have stayed more if we weren’t on a timeline. The park is very spacious, and the sites are spread out. Next to a canal and walking/biking trail we enjoyed stretching our legs out on a gorgeous walk. Will be back next time we drive through.

I showed up here tired and worn out while riding the GIT. This is more of a place for RVs but she had a place for me to set up a tent and take a hot shower. I also took her recommendation for pizza and was not disappointed.

Campground has mix of seasonal RVs and nightly use campers. Grassy sites with tall shade trees. Beautiful setting surrounded by cornfields. Met with friendly new owners who are working on improvements, more playgrounds, cabins... Sites are mixed (couple pull throughs) most on grass, which can be soft.
Canal location is great for biking and kayaking on canal (kayak rentals available at office). Boat launch, dock, Laundry, dump station & water and electric at sites.

Hickory Grove Campground was one of the prettiest places that we stayed during our 6 week tour of the US. There are lots of mature trees on well kept grounds. Campsites have plenty of room between campers. We had a pull through site that was super easy to get into. The new owners, Joan and Dave, are the wonderful kind of people anyone would love to be friends with if they lived nearby. They were in the process of making a number of improvements to the property. My husband and I are looking forward to making Hickory Grove a stop on our next trip out west.

Stayed one night here on our way out West. Picture perfect surrounding and very friendly neighbours and staff. Tonnes of room for our tent we were the only ones in the tent area. Also CHEAP just $17 a night for an unpowered site one of the cheapest we have had so far. Plenty to walk around and see if you are just here for a night.

We arrived late...in the dark, and were met by 4-5 friendly people who helped us out!! Hope we can come back & stay longer because this is a beautiful campground with large trees, and wide open spaces...campers are not stacked next to each other like so many others are. Seems like a friendly family owned campground....could use a larger playground for kids, but they do have a nice small one. Very enjoyable stay....just too short!
