Great campground in a convenient location. Only 25 minutes from Acadia's visitor center and 30 from Cadillac mountain. Very clean bathrooms and laundry. Unfortunately, the pool wasn't open in early June but it looked so nice. Hadley's Point at the end of the street was a nice place to watch the sun set over the Bay and the quiet surrounding streets were great for a run to get out of the family camper. Sites were nicely graveled or wooded and the cabins looked beautiful. There is a charge for showers, so bring your quarters. We would love to stay here again!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Desert of Maine Campground and a whole day in the Desert is hardly enough! The fun exhibits were super hands on for kids and there were tons of well-documented historical weeks scientific signs for the adults. I loved how the whole experience told us the story of the desert. (Definitely watch the video on their website before you go!) The campground was extremely clean with beautifully renovated bathrooms, lots of outdoor games, gorgeous hiking trails, a well stocked camp store and so much peace and tranquility. The new miniature gold is going to be so cool. We'll definitely be returning!!
We stopped when Garmin was closed so we only saw Eartha from the outside (and she was not revolving) but she was still a beauty and we got some amazing photos!
Fun quirky stop and it's literally the only building for miles. No public restrooms, but very well supplied with local art, fun Vermont-y souvenirs, postcards and lots of syrup. (The whole shop smells like syrup!) There was a fascinating comparison of varied seasonal syrup on display and every variety for sale. (Also the maple walnut fudge is divine.)
Every bit as adorable as it looks! Very quaint and very serene. The Adirondack chairs make you want to sit and stay a while and maybe pray. It's on a very quiet street parking was no problem for our truck and 5th wheel. So glad we stopped!
