The beaches at Whitefish Dunes State Park are incredibly beautiful and clean. Also - if you walk down to the 2nd or 3rd access point there is significantly less people and you can have a whole slice of waterfront all to yourselves! This was one of my favorite spots we visited in Door County
The room was SO nice - we had a king suite with whirlpool tub. The front desk was very kind and the hotel is in a great location with downtown a short drive away and a Target store next door.
To any fellow Roadtrippers in the Durango area, please do not waste your time/money booking here. I have stayed at "cheap" hotels before and still this place has absolutely no bang for your buck. The rooms are clean enough, however, the reason we booked was for the pool which is not open this summer (for the simple reason that they didn't feel like opening it this year...?). When we inquired about cancelling we were told they wouldn't be able to give us any money back and according to the clerk it stated on their website and booking.com that it would not be open (WHICH IS FALSE--THE SITES STATE NOTHING)
Other frustrations included: tv remote that only changes channel w/o any other functions, incorrect wifi password, etc. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere!!!
Unbelievable! We enjoyed our visit immensely! This is one of those sights that you'll never forget. It's peaceful and remote as well as historical. We never took our car out onto the speedway but walked out as far as we cared to and watch the sun set over the peaks. For us, it was magical and we would certainly visit again if we're ever in the area.
This motel is a perfect stop during a road trip. The front desk is very nice and helpful and the room is clean and comfortable. It's not any sort of an upscale place, but is well worth the $50 we spent for the night! Our queen room is complete with a mini fridge and microwave and the outdoor pool is perfect in July. But if you're someone that enjoys a steamy, hot shower be prepared because the shower only reaches a mild warmth. Overall a great place, we would certainly stay again should we be in the area!
The room was clean and comfortable. It had a nice sized (mini) refrigerator and microwave. My husband and I stayed here on the first leg of our journey heading west and it was a great first night. I definitely felt we got our money's worth ($72 is not bad, but my standards weren't terribly high). My only complaint would be that the woman working the front desk needs a serious lesson in customer service--she never once cracked a smile or even said "have a nice day" once we completed our check-in/transaction...I hope she was just covering the desk for that one day!
