I came here as kid on a road trip with my mom. I remembered it being a lot more fun than it was. My son and I recently took a road trip and since this was sort of on the way we took a detour to visit.
The site is a pretty lame cash grab. I'm not one to complain about prices as long as there is value but, this was a little ridiculous for what it was. Currently, its $8 per person (not per car) to park in a pothole riddled dirt parking lot and get a photo of you standing in four states at once.
There are several vendor stalls, but most (90%) were empty and the ones that were there were ridiculously overpriced except for one lady selling hand painted magnets. She had some cool stuff at fair prices, and we bought some items from her stall.
I had heard good things about the frybread trailer on site but, $15 for one frybread taco? I'll pass. We got a cinnamon sugar frybread for $8 that was pretty decent. All in all, if its directly on your route maybe stop and check it out. If it's a 30-minute detour, skip it and save yourself some time.

This place is amazing! I had visited this park once years ago on a road trip with my mom when I was ten. We got to do the Cliff Palace tour and it has been burned into my brain ever since. I recently took a road trip with my twelve-year-old son and was delighted to share the experience with him.
We visited during Spring Break in mid-March, and the sites were not open for tours, unfortunately. It was snowing and the crowds were very thin though. It made for an excellent experience as we did not have to fight for parking or viewing spots.
Totally worth a stop to see these incredible cliffside dwellings and learn about the history of the area and the people who lived there. The Farview restaurant, giftshop and hotel were closed for the season. The visitor center and a smaller giftshop/restaurant were, however, open and well stocked with souvenirs and food. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the Ranger at the visitor center, I wish I had gotten his name. He was extremely helpful and plotted out a path for us that allowed us to see the major sites in the park within the short time (4 hours) that we had.

We were in Durango to ride the narrow gauge railroad to Cascade Canyon and you couldn't ask for a better location. The depot was a short walk, less than a block away from the hotel. The Strater is walking distance from excellent shopping, great coffee shops and some fantastic dining options. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We both really loved this historic hotel and all the attention to detail. The wallpaper, the antique lighting in the hallways, the fire in the lobby with hot coffee/tea in the morning. Absolute fantastic hotel, looking forward to a return trip. We had dinner at one of the onsite restaurants, The Diamond Belle, and it was fantastic. The decor, the entertainment, the drinks from the bar and our waitress were outstanding. Highly recommended.
The parking is a little awkward, but it's an historic hotel in downtown Durango. It was built in 1887, parking lots weren't really a thing back then. They have three small lots, and we were able to park close to the hotel so, not really an issue.

This is classic Americana and part of the quintessential road trip. One of the best stops on a Spring Break father & son road trip. The site of the Cadillacs buried nose first in the dirt in an otherwise empty field is surreal and not to be missed. There is ample parking along the road near the entrance and even though it is full of people you never feel crowded. It is such a thrill to be able to get up close and personal with an art installation and be able to (temporarily) leave your mark. We stayed until we had emptied our cans and left smiling and laughing. This is such a happy place and everyone we encountered was in a wonderful mood. Buy your spray paint before you get there as the gift shops close by charge a premium price but, if you forget it there is a trailer on site selling spray paint and cool merch.

Fun stop and photo op. A few old Cadillacs and a cool little gift shop there as well, with lots of t-shirts, magnets, stickers and the usual souvenirs. A little pricey but if you forgot your spray paint for Cadillac Ranch its a good place to pick some up.

Fun little stop along the way. Yes, its covered in graffiti and a little bit off the highway but, if you are into kitschy and obscure photo ops it's worth it. Also, it's a great way to expose people to poetry as there is a plaque with Percy Bysshe Shelley's sonnet "Ozymandias" and little history about the monument itself. Had fun, spent less than ten minutes and got a cool/weird photo for our adventures photo album.

One of the best state parks in Texas. We stayed for three nights and wished it could have been longer. Great facilities, well maintained trails, helpful staff, a true gem of a park. If you visit, you must do the Lighthouse hike but, start early as the trail and the parking lot get full quickly. Don't overlook the Sunflower trail, it's an easy hike but really enjoyable with nice scenery, highly underrated. We camped in Fortress Cliff because that was all that was available, it's okay but definitely book at another site if possible as it has porta-potties only, and no showers. The showers are close by but it's still a little inconvenient. The camp store offers a fantastic hamburger, seriously, it's great. They also have ice cream cones, sandwiches, drinks, souvenirs and any camp supplies you may have forgotten, including camp stoves and tents. The stars are so bright in this park and the Milky Way is clearly visible, it's amazing to see the night sky away from the city.
