We were in Durango to ride the narrow gauge railroad to Cascade Canyon and you couldn't ask for a better location. The depot was a short walk, less than a block away from the hotel. The Strater is walking distance from excellent shopping, great coffee shops and some fantastic dining options. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We both really loved this historic hotel and all the attention to detail. The wallpaper, the antique lighting in the hallways, the fire in the lobby with hot coffee/tea in the morning. Absolute fantastic hotel, looking forward to a return trip. We had dinner at one of the onsite restaurants, The Diamond Belle, and it was fantastic. The decor, the entertainment, the drinks from the bar and our waitress were outstanding. Highly recommended.
The parking is a little awkward, but it's an historic hotel in downtown Durango. It was built in 1887, parking lots weren't really a thing back then. They have three small lots, and we were able to park close to the hotel so, not really an issue.
