I was parked right off the road in back of the dam. Great view of the surrounding mountains. A few spots will accommodate larger rigs. The dirt road in is badly maintained with very severe washboarding.

Occasional mountain goats coming by for a nibble of lunch. The road in is a little bumpy but it’s right off the highway. No noise and a very private spot.

Once past the vault toilets the road becomes extremely rocky and narrow. Take my advise if you value your vehicle, do not enter.

Very easy to locate. My favorite thing about this location is easy access for my Class C RV, great Verizion service and no negatives at all.

Everything you read in previous reviews is true. As Arnie said, “I’ll be bock!”

I can only give this campground a three rating due to the terrible entrance road. It’s a very steep road with deep potholes, large rocks and no gardrail. I feel its very dangerous for my class C RV.

I arrived on a Friday midday and there was no problem finding the prime spot available. Please keep it quiet and clean for the rest of us. Thank you for your cooperation.

Very helpful rangers. Maintenance could use some supervision, there doesn’t appear to be anyone here except the rangers. Very little water in the lake due to severe drought conditions.

Very quiet campground, no traffic noise. Cool clean air. NO WATER available, bring everything you'll need for your stay. Terrific hosts. Gargage pick up is great. $10.00 per day, $5.00 with the usual national passes.

I stayed here for 28 days in one month actually, I took the mandated break of 6 days between stays. I came back for a second stay because of the peace and tranquility of the park. I highly recommend this park. The rate I paid for the water and electric hookup is with the $225.00 non resident annual New Mexico pass I purchased several months ago. The pass is well worth it. I'm a full timer spending the winter here in beautiful New Mexico. The only reason I gave the access rating only 4 stars is that the front sign is overgrown with shrubs in the direction I came from driving over the dam. I tow my car and had to go through the natural gas fields to turn around when I missed the entrance. The head ranger is not paying attention. Don't trust Google Maps Navigation app to get you into the park.
