Loved our room, staff was attentive. Hotel breakfast was good. We visited in low season so the hotel wasn't loud or packed and we had a poolside room. The pickup menu you can order from in your room is worth it if you can't make it out to eat.

Guided plantation tour is for the "big house" only, the slave quarters is a self tour. Anthony was our big house guide and he was very knowledgeable about their lifestyle and the history of the home. 4 stars, not 5 because of the Confederate portion. It's obvious it does not have much tie to the home and seems a desperate draw and yet there's a guide for that area as well.

Wonderful food AND coffee! Menu is TOO BIG...too much good stuff to pick from! I picked corned beef hash and eggs. Added cheese to the eggs and it was SOOOOO good! Cinnamon raisin toast was also excellent! I wish they had one of these close to me. One person had chicken spinach salad and had enough to take home. Another guest had the Rueben sandwich and raved about it as well!

Melt in your mouth brisket! So tasty and well-seasoned, I didn't need the Bbq sauces, which was good because they weren't as great as the meat! I had the cornbread soufflé and hash brown casserole, both were delicious. My guests had the beans and greens and weren't as impressed with their sides which is why I gave 4 stars not 5. The sweet potato soufflé was also good!

The tour guides add exponentially to the appeal of this place. Just looking at stone, you can't tell what is really so special about it, but once they start telling you about the little 5'0" 100lb guy who poured his broken heart into this place, you get it! We had a rough time in the parking lot trying to communicate with the parking attendant (who didn't speak very good /any English) & my mother was ready to just leave. Once we got in and they started showing us the different features of the place even she was impressed. Masons and Eastern stars will we recognize several meaningful symbols here. It was the hottest part of the day when we went, please don't make that mistake! We had our own bottled water, but one in our party had to stay in the shaded area due to the heat and missed being up close to several parts of the tour.

Beautiful open beach with gorgeous views of 7 Mile Bridge and the old Bahia Honda bridge. Great spot for sunset/rise photography. Since I entered the park just before sunset, they gave me a discount which was appreciated, but the daily fee is not much at all anyway. Gate attendant was very friendly and told me exactly where to go to get the best shots! We enjoyed a scenic sunset with less than 5 people around at any given point. It was like having a private beach! I would love to go back to hike and snorkel.

Good food, great view...You can pay your ticket at the table from the tablet mounted there which would have been good to know before we waited almost 15 minutes for our waitress to come back!

Memorial on the National Register of Historic Places for a near 300 African refugees who died after the 3 slave ships they were on were captured by the US Navy. It's a fascinating history not well told at the site, visit the local maritime museum to get a better history. The memorial is beautiful though, I would recommend visiting well before or after high sun! There is no shade over the site. Also, close by are a very long beautiful pier (also with no shade), the AIDS memorial, & West Martello tower. Parking in this area is free so enjoy!

Very pretty photo op! Just off beach highway...just pull over, park, & snap an usie with your friend! Free! And while you're at it, hop across road and take one on the beautiful sandy beach!

Absolutely gorgeous but terribly remote and unkempt. Then again, what can you really expect from a state run facility that only charges $4 per car on an honor system! The signage is non-existent until you get to the entrance. My GPS was guiding me past entrance signs but after I went another half mile, I U-turned to enter where the signs were! The driving paths are single lane dirt trails so proceed with caution. All this being said, it's well with the drive to the middle of nowhere and I wish I would have had more time to walk the different trails and take pictures. I can only imagine how awesome the diving is because the water looked beautiful.
