Good food, great view...You can pay your ticket at the table from the tablet mounted there which would have been good to know before we waited almost 15 minutes for our waitress to come back!
Memorial on the National Register of Historic Places for a near 300 African refugees who died after the 3 slave ships they were on were captured by the US Navy. It's a fascinating history not well told at the site, visit the local maritime museum to get a better history. The memorial is beautiful though, I would recommend visiting well before or after high sun! There is no shade over the site. Also, close by are a very long beautiful pier (also with no shade), the AIDS memorial, & West Martello tower. Parking in this area is free so enjoy!
Beautiful hotel, good location in San Ignacio. They have excellent customer service. We received a free welcome drink and sample dessert with turndown service every night. They give you a free bottled water per person per day. Came in handy for our day trips! My only hesitation for how expensive their shuttle /tour services are. For a higher end hotel, I would expect at least a shuttle from the airport to be reduced if not free for guests. Also, there's a Mayan ruin that is a short walk away and I didn't get to see it! Don't make the same mistake!
It's old, which is the draw but also doesn't seem to be trying to keep up the displays at all. Admission with the Conch Train Tour was only $10, I'm not sure how much more it is for people who pay there. The outdoor lagoon was my favorite part. Kids would probably enjoy it, especially the hands-on tank.
Pretty good food, nice booths!
Awesome food! Our plates were running over with food!
Our guide was fantastic! It's kind of confusing when buying tickets as to the difference between the tours and the ticket takers are obviously trying to move thru the line quickly. I would recommend grabbing the brochures, then heading for food to look them over first to see which tour & stops you'd like best. Then go back to buy tickets. We paid for the aquarium which I wouldn't do again but it was only $10 when purchasing with the train tour. In hindsight, our group would have been better off just paying for train and then hopping off and taking advantage of free photo opps and then hopping on again.
Tiny airport, easy to navigate!
Gorgeous drive at night or day! Have your passengers get their cameras ready!
Solid place to sleep when passing through Tallahassee. Close to gas, food, interstate. Always clean, moderately up-to-date.
