We got in to GP on Sunday of Memorial Day. The ranger on duty was unfriendly and unhelpful - he needed a site number to find our reservation, we had to ask for directions to the site, a map of the park, and a map of the trails. He saw (and heard) our dog, but didn't tell us we'd booked and we're headed to a spot where dogs weren't allowed. We didn't find that out until the hosts, who were also really unfriendly, yelled at us when we were walking our dog. We went to the front office to move sites, and shelled out for one of the newer full hookup sites in the pet-friendly area. Which was surrounded by primitive sites, so we shelled out to listen to generators. Pets aren't allowed on most trails, most of the campground, or anywhere near the water - but it costs extra to bring them. Site quality was really inconsistent - from some really nice, brand new sites to very unlevel sites that haven't had trees trimmed, have a picnic table that's cracked in half, etc. Also the dirtiest bathrooms we've ever seen in a state park. For electric only, and the site quality, the price was ridiculous and everything costs extra. Want to kayak? You have to buy a permit for the year for $28. Disc Golf? That'll be $2 a person to play on their unmaintained course. Need to rent a boat? $60 please. We had only a slightly better experience at Promised Land State Park east of here after this - if we ever go back to PA, we'd look for national forest or a private RV park.

The campgrounds are forested and secluded, but just a short walk to all the hiking trails, including the Trail of Ten Falls — truth in advertising, even the most cynical of hikers would feel unicorns, kittens and rainbows swell in their hearts hiking over, behind and under 10 falls along this 8 mile loop.

Lots of families and groups camp here — people reserve spots months in advance, but you can get in on summer weekdays last minute if you’re willing to site hop. Sites are spacious, level and well-spaced. Only partial hookups available in the RV loop, but there is a dump station a few miles up the road at the North end of the park.

If you're in the area for awhile, check out nearby Silverton for shops, supplies and restaurants, and the Frank Lloyd Wright house and the Oregon Gardens are also beautiful.

One of the most beautiful spots we've been to in all of our travels. Sites are spacious and private with electric hookups, but no water. Amazing trail system for mountain biking and hiking right outside your door. Close to Tucson without being too close. We can see why there's a 7 day stay limit - we might have moved in!

Very small, clean RV park right over the bridge on the Washington side between White Salmon and Hood River. Like everywhere in the Gorge, you're going to get train and road noise. Park was immaculate and owners were very friendly.

We stopped over here on the way from Washington to Idaho. It's a small park, and not really a destination, but it was easy to access, quiet, sites were clean and level and it had some amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge and a couple miles of paved running/biking paths.

There is a transmission line going through the park - I wouldn't pick a site right next to it, but otherwise you won't really hear it.

We stayed here and site hopped a few times from Thanksgiving through Christmas this year. It's a pretty park about 5-10 minutes drive from downtown SLO, and 15 from Morro Bay with a Botanical garden, dog parks, picnic areas and hiking trails. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again - there's a ton to explore in the area.

Our one comment would be that there were a lot of hosts for the size of the park (4+ for fewer than 80 total sites), but sites weren't really cleaned or maintained between visits and the hosts were never around to sell firewood. On the other hand, we were also never charged the "pet fee" and were there a bit over the max stay, so we benefited from the lax-ness.

Nearest propane is at the U-Haul in Morro Bay.

We weren't really sure what we were in for when we arrived, but the photos don't really do this place justice. Yes, it's a small gravel parking lot with a handful of spaces that are fairly tightly spaced. The owners have taken care to add plants, handpainted signs, and a picnic structure that give this place a lot of character in spite of the small size. We loved being a 5 minute walk down the hill to Bisbee's old town, and watching sunsets over the hill and the old mine. We wanted to do the mine tour, but ran out of time. We could easily have stayed here a couple weeks, but the road was calling and we had a weather window open up for a Grand Canyon visit. We'll definitely be back.

Clean RV park with laundry and pool. This park is a mix of seasonal folks and overnighters, but the permanent setups were all very tidy and well maintained. Sites are pretty spacious for a private RV park with hedges between them. Some sites are on grass, some are paved. We used this as a stopover for a busy summer weekend when we couldn't find a spot in the state parks. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here, but if you need an option in the area it's a good stopover. It's about a 15 minutes drive to Bellingham, 20 if you take the prettier non-freeway route.

We needed to recharge our batteries and wait out some weather and a cold and stayed here for a little over a week. The staff is friendly, the park is clean, and sites are level. They have weekly and monthly rates available, and there are mostly seasonal snow birds staying here. We'd stay again as a stopover in the area near the park (it's about 15 minutes to the park gate, and 20 minutes to the Jumbo Rocks campground).

The park is right off Amboy Rd, and we chose a back in site by the road so we could have a view of palms and mountains vs. looking out at other rigs, but it's not a super busy road and there wasn't much noise at night save from the coyotes. There are also pull through sites.

Twentynine Palms has groceries and gas, but not much culture. If you're looking for restaurants, bars and shops you'd be better off looking for a spot closer to Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley or Palm Springs, we just picked it for it's proximity to the national park.

We only stopped through for a night, which was enough for us. The lady in the office was very kind and managed to finagle us a pull through spot, but the park is extremely tight and overpriced for what you get - which is being about a block's walk from Tombstone's main drag. If you're dying to go to Tombstone it's probably your best option though.
