I love this place! It is off grid - so nothing fancy- and absolutely beautiful. The goats are so friendly and the baby goats love to snuggle and play.
The owners are super nice and casual. On Saturdays they host an outdoor movie night and provide smores and hotdogs for the fire pit! They even made burgers and the best potato salad ever when I was there!

This place is gorgeous. If you take the hike down to the swimming area be aware that is it not flat or short. It's very uneven but SO worth it. The swimming area was breath taking.

So cool!!
The hike to the river is very long and uneven- no wheels!! But once you get to the swimming area is is so worth it! Bring a swimsuit and spare shoes for the hike.

The first stamp mill in the Cripple Creek area was built by a Sam Altman after whom the town was named. One of the most bustling cities in the region around the turn of the century, Altman was composed almost exclusively of union miners and was one of the headquarters during the bloody strikes of 1894 and was the center of much labor violence during its lifetime. It is said violence was so common at one time, a busy undertaker offered to give group rates if all killings were done on Saturday.

A real ghost town. Vacant structures stand pitted against the elements on a lonely bluff overlooking Trementia Creek. The ruins consist of at least two dozen rock buildings; most are roofless, doorless and windowless. Some contain the rusty remains of stoves, bedsprings and other items that indicate people once lived there.
