“sleep under the beautiful California moonlight”
In the 1800s, Chinese immigrants lived and farmed on this stretch of flat land along the Klamath River. They sold vegetables to the miners and worked in the local mines. They imported a homeland tree called the Tree of Heaven to remind them of their native land. Today the Tree of Heaven Campground is popular for its shaded, grassy campsites, close proximity to Yreka and great access to the Klamath River. Tree of Heaven campground is open from Friday May 15, 2015 through Wednesday, October 14th, 2015.
