We went in for dinner- 50s food with great service and atmosphere back to the rig in 30 minutes or less. When we went leave the next morning we realized someone tried to steal our bike and rack but they were double locked and and stolen the license plates off the rig!!

I am writing this as a heads up to travelers who want to make the 'iconic' stop at Peggy Sue's 50s Diner off of I-15 in Yermo, CA like my family did...
This is a hot spot for local thieves who target the parking lot, especially on weekends. After speaking with the local Sheriff, because we were robbed while sitting in their parking lot, they said this happens pretty much on a daily basis.
The Sheriff explained that Peggy Sue's Diner will not take any security precautions to protect their customers. Often, travelers are targeted and the suspect car will park in between cars, smash & grab suit cases, backpacks, laptops etc. within 30 seconds and be gone.
For a place with average tasting, over priced food this is a very risky stop, at any time of day. It was 11am when we were robbed.
My advice, ignore the signs and press onward toward your destination until the diner will at the very least put up a security camera.

Our second stop here at Peggy Sue's in a 35' 5th wheel with no issues at all! Plus that great Peggy Sue's food! Plenty area to park, lot's of semi's overnight here on one side and a few on the other. Like any parking lot, you must be aware of your surroundings. Just don't leave valuables in sight! Super fast AT&T and Verizon too!

Great food and big rig friendly overnight parking is available at this conveniently located diner. Melody, Milo, and I stopped here for lunch while exploring the Barstow area. Employees verified that overnight RV parking is absolutely allowed in their massive level parking lot. An outside seating area and dinosaur park is pet friendly. Both the inside and outside of the diner is upbeat and worth a stop. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 8.62 Mbps download speed and 10.6 Mbps upload speed. AT&T cellular service showed two bars LTE, but the internet was unusable at the time of our visit. This free overnight parking location along Interstate 15 is a keeper.

I was planning on staying here in my Class B, but honestly the area felt creepy, trashy and unsafe. I arrived about an hour before the restaurant closed and there were lots of cars in the parking lot. There were trucks and RVs in the large gravel lot too, but it still seemed sketchy. I went to a Flying J instead.

This is a truck stop. Great place to stop for the night. Fantastic place to eat and rest. It is noisy from the freeway and trucks.

Good food, try the pizza! Stay in the parking lot to the left side of the restaurant (looking at it from the street side). The trucks seem to use the right side. We’ve stayed several times, haven’t had an issue.

We were among several RVs along the eastern edge of the huge, level, gravel lot. In the distance we could see I-15 but only slight murmur, no noise at all. A few trucks did show up sometime while the were there but were so quiet we didn’t even notice! A comfortable place.
Had a fantastic surprise in the diner, Meatloaf!! My wife didn’t want me eating the Chili size that I picked, thinks I’m too heavy, so to please her I had what she selected… I was blown away at how great it was and the portions! Came with a big freshly baked potato, green beans and a salad, all great! I’d stop again just to have dinner… might in the fall on our way to Tucson!

We were headed for Mohave Preserve, but huge thunderstorms popped up, and we didn't want to drive on dirt roads. A friend had mentioned Peggy Sue's 50's Diner, and we called to be sure overnights were ok. The answer is yes, but they are not responsible for the safety of you or your rig.
The restaurant is easy to get to off Highways 15 or 40. It is surrounded by several acres of fairly level and smooth gravel lot. We pulled through on one side, and as the night went on, many more RVs and semi trucks stopped for the night. There was some highway noise in the distance, but not too much. We felt safe and got good sleep.
The best part was eating the yummy diner food! We had great burgers, fries, and ice cream for dinner, and decent omelets before we left the next morning. Great stop!
