Six Mile Gap Campground is located 2 miles off State Highway 230 and provides easy access to the North Platte River and Platte River Wilderness. The campground is a popular spot for river floaters, anglers, and hikers. Campground facilities include: picnic tables, toilets, drinking water, fire grates, trash service and trailhead parking. There is a 14 day stay limit. Popular activities near this campground include floating the North Platte River and hiking the Platte River Trail. Fishing opportunities can be found on the North Platte river and nearby on Big Creek and Douglas Creek.

I spent a Tuesday night, 24 Aug 2021 there. The campground is basically a U shape with the first 6 camp spots on the right being tent spots. There are three pull-thru spots on the return leg of the U. All of them were filled with 5th-wheels.

The last spot on the drive into the campgrounds, spot #6 does have enough space to park a Ram 2500 with a rooftop tent. The parking is pretty level and I used two small rocks to level up. Thanks to the previous folks who had clearly done the same. There are picnic tables for each of the camp spots that are terraced up the slope. The tent area is an additional level up. The tent areas for spots 1 thru 6 are secluded up in the trees.

There are two toilet facilities and another one below the campground at the trailhead. The toilet was clean. The bear lock-up bins and the water was locked up even though the campground was open.

During the night, there was some freeway noise but it was not intrusive at all.

I had a few deer come up close to me. They were clearly inquisitive.
