The campsites were huge and you didn’t feel too close to other campers. The vault toilets were about as clean as you can expect. There was some road noise so the campsites at the back of the campground would be preferred. The location was very convenient to all the things to do around Colorado Springs but still felt remote.

Overall this is a pretty good campground for dry camping. Generally sites are separated fairly well. We were in #9, a 40 ft back in site. This particular site was pretty unlevel side to side, 4 blocks on the right to level our 23 ft travel trailer. The campground has some reserved sites as well as first come, first served. With COVID it was filling up quickly on Thursday before we left at noon. We even had people stop to ask if we were leaving. Yep, we're leaving but not at 9 AM.
The road makes a complete circle one way clockwise. There is also a spine road in the middle as well. Many of the sites are pull through but with the one way road, I would not like anything on the left as you're facing the road. It evidently doesn't matter to many people as they were filling up quickly. Noise can be an issue as it's just off a highway. Nothing quite like a trucker coming through with Jake brake full on.
OK, I know it sounds like I'm complaining about everything but I will definitely go back for midweek camping again. It's close to home, easy to get in to and a piece of cake to go into Woodland Park if you forget something (we did).
Oh, and the cost reflects my old man discount.

Easy access campsite as its right off the highway. We were searching for sites and this was one of our last resorts. Upon arrival, the site tenants happily greeted us and opened a campsite for us. Even though its right off the highway and can be a bit noisy at times, the easy access and distanced campsites make up for it.

Even though it was a rainy and cold Memorial Day weekend, we decided to make the short trip up there from Colorado Springs. This was a pull through space with no trees or cement posts to navigate around so we found ourselves lucky. (We watched a 5th wheel get stuck trying to pull out this morning to make the sharp turn onto the paved road without hitting all the rocks and cement markers around site.) I was glad that the back of the camper with the slide and windows faced the fire ring and nature to enjoy the view, but I would have been disappointed if I was planning to use the front kitchen as we barely had enough room to get awning extended being parked on the level part of the space.
There is a paved bicycle path that passes right in front of the campground and it goes all the way to WP (5.5 miles into town).
Our site was a little uneven, but not all washed out or obstructed with huge trees to prevent us getting a slide out.
We will definitely keep this little spot in mind in the future.
Deckers is only about a 20min drive further north and the river has lots of great spots to picnic, fish or go tubing/kayaking.
The only con for this spot is it’s just on the edge of cell service, so most of the time we couldn’t connect but random calls and texts would come through.

We arrived on a Saturday evening with no reservations. There were two first come, first serve sites available. Both were by the vault...mistake. If the wind is right you do get whiffs of the vault. Vault was clean. The site was level, had pine tree coverage, had fairly good spacing between campers, very nice camp host that was helpful and enjoyed chatting. We did hear the highway noise from this spot. When we stay here again we would opt for a site that backs up to the meadow.

This is located 14 miles north of Woodland Park, close enough to run to town for shopping. The site I had was close to level, but I did use my ramps to get to an acceptable level for my refrigerator.
I didn't expect it to be so cold in May, but at night it dipped down to almost freezing.
Up until 5-24-2023, only the northern half was open - but on the 25th the southern half was opened. There are at least 48 sites, and about half of them before the 25th were first-come-first served. The campground wasn't crowded at all.
Despite the proximity to Hwy 67, there was very little road noise - that road isn't used much at night.
And the campground host (whose name I forgot to get) was very friendly and helpful.
I was able to get 1 bar on T-Mobile 5G at night, in the morning it reverted to 4G-LTE, which was still plenty good for my uses.
Overall, this was a very nice campground. When boondocking, I would definitely consider staying here again.

This is a great national forest campground with large pine trees and spacious sites. Not the easiest for big rigs but perfect for the smaller ones. Cows mooing in the distance and beavers at the edge of the forest did not bother us in the least. Road quiets down at night but we had a nice site at the back. Bathrooms are clean and fresh. Host was very nice.
