Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on October 10, 2022The park is in a pretty spot, Lake Solano is really just a wide part of the river. Not especially scenic, but pleasant and at the weekend we rented kayaks for a nice paddle up the river.
They have 58 sites some with water & electric hook-ups, and flat level spots suitable for trailers and rigs. The waterside spots are much nicer but have no hookups, and only a few are accessible for RVs. But if we went back we would try and score one of those. Worth the premium they charge.
Winters is a nearby town that has some nice eating spots, and there is a nearby brewery that opens at the weekend. Davis is not too far away for a day trip.
The downsides of this park: The showers are ancient and the hot water was non existent. But the biggest issue was that the park is absolutely covered in goose poop, which was stinky and icky! It kind of put us off spending any time in the park area.
This campground is filled with beautiful peacocks. They are everywhere and very pretty. But they are also extremely noisy and may well wake you up with their screeching!

We had never camped here before. I have wanted to get a spot by the water but there were none available. We stayed on top and had water and electric hookups. The spot was level and shady. We ended up very happy with this spot as we talked with other campers and found out the Mosquitos are much worse closer to the water and you tend to get larger and louder groups camping there. We had a super quiet area, well except for the numerous peacocks. A very pleasant weekend. The camp hosts did say mid week it is very empty.

We had the opportunity to get away over New Years without kids and I found this place on Campendium. I had stayed here several years before during the Summer and liked it. We arrived and with no problems and our site was fairly easy to get into this our 29 ft trailer. Water and electric hook ups only, but they have a cleanout up on the top and the restrooms/ showers were 15 yards away. We had the whole loop to ourselves. The restrooms/ showers and the grounds were clean. There is a nature trail out side of our spot that had a bit of foot traffic in the AM from bird watchers but all were friendly. A lot of peacocks wandering the park and they were not afraid of venturing into your site.

This is a nice county park near the small town of Winters, which is a neat little town with a few wineries. The campground is next to the Purah creek which is home to a lot of water fowl, otters and other critters. The campsite it self has numerous peacocks which make for an exotic scene as they wander around looking for handouts or grazing in the grass. Unfortunately, the park needs some serious upgrades to rest rooms and showers which are old and very dirty. We did use them but felt very uncomfortable doing so. It is a shame because this could be a lovely campground in a location convenient to Sacramento and to the wine regions of Napa.

I'd give it 3-4 stars for the scenery and location. But the disgusting state of the showers and bathrooms make it a 1 star. I don't understand how the facilities could be this bad. There are 3 camp hosts in the grounds and 2 maintenance folks running around. This is no exaggeration: feces all over the place, mold growing up the shower curtains, numerous spider webs in the corners of the showers, and a tampon in the shower stall. I checked next day (more than 24 hours later), they hadn't been cleaned. Inexcusible. Worst I've seen.

Easy to find. Visitors center at the entrance. Plenty of room for our 33ft class a and our tow car. A short drive into the town of Winters is a must do. Such cute shops, restaurants, and a wine tasting room. We did not use the shower but we checked them out. Not great, but in an emergency, ok. 3 days was fine for me, and water, electric and an on site dump for 20$ a night is a real deal in California. Maybe 25$ without senior discount. Also, you could hear a little highway noise, but barely.

22 is a drive thru. Some back and forth required to find the level section. Some occasional noise from highway just across the tranquil waterway. The site map and road signs could be better.

Love the upper spaces, fully shaded. Water & elect to all spaces with atleast 2 dump sites. Asphalt pads. Rangers, staff, & host have been very helpful and gracious. Front Gate closes at 9pm and opens after 7am.
Smoke Free Solano County Parks Smoking or use of e-cigarettes is not permitted inside or on the grounds of any Solano County park.
Watchout for the wondering peacocks!
Only downside is you can only stay 14 days between this and its sister park in rio vista (Sandy Beach), then you have to be gone for 30 days to reset. Verizon was touch and go inside rig. Outside it was a solid one bar.

Our host was really nice, Gilbert. He gave me a good luck peacock feather. Peacocks are everywhere on the campground. The city near by was great with some awesome food options. We went to Chuey's Tacos. The campground had a great lake, a small trail. The park is super huge! Lots of shade. Like 100 spots to choose from. Full hookups! Camp fire rings were clean. 20 for all hook ups plus 10 for a vehicle and then extra for the dog. But overall really great! but in a dead zone for internet...

$21 w/senior discount for hookups and one dog.
Beautiful spot on Putah Creek with lots of trees, a shoreline trail, paved RV site pads with electric and water, dump stations. There are plenty of dry camping sites as well but no generators are allowed. It was winter so my one solar panel wasn’t going to be enough and I opted to plug in. Non-utility sites are $13 for seniors. Dogs are only $1. Forgot to get the non-senior prices. Camp hosts Bill and Libby were very friendly and helpful. It is just a few miles to the town of Winters.
The day use area is right next next to the campground. It has a non-motorized boat launch, many picnic areas and an aerated pond that, at some point, was used for fishing by kids and folks in wheelchairs (might still be during warmer seasons.) There is an area specifically for wading on the creek. There is also a playground there and bathrooms.
I got to see many types of waterfowl and songbirds, a real highlight for me (see below.) Also got a 3:00 a.m. serenade from the coyotes. There is a bit of road noise from across the creek but there are so many positives for this place I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Birds:
Belted Kingfisher, Black Phoebe, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Mallard, Acorn Woodpecker, Oak Titmouse, Golden Crowned Sparrow, California Scrub Jay, Red Tailed Hawk.
