The visitors centre has a lot of information on the crater - and allows you through to the rim to take in the sheer size of the crater. Not necessarily cheap, but I don't get why people drive out there and turn back without looking. We spent maybe 90 minutes there. Not the cheapest place to visit, but not bad value either.
We stopped here and didn't even bother paying the fee. It was $18 for adults; $9 for kids; (5 and under were free.) All we wanted to do was look at it, take a picture or two and go -- we didn't have time for a tour, we we decided it was not worth it.
18$ entry fee, includes tour, museum, etc. vs 15$ fee for the Grand Canyon. No free viewing of the crater. Disappointed.
If you are into meteorites, astronauts then come here. It has a few exhibits, actual meteorites, a short cinematic film about how it happened and the history. Then go to the crater and have your head blown off by the wind.
