Our first time visiting the dunes, and without early reservations, we were worried that we got the worst spot in the worst campground. How wrong we were! Alllllll the other campgrounds around here were PACKED and Windy Cove Loop A was so peaceful and gorgeous! For most of the week we were the only ones in the loop. We still took the side by side out to the dunes (only 5 mins on the side road). We were still close to the water (walked the marina and by the sea every night with incredible sunsets). We saw tons of wildlife (including a goose family with 2 small goslings) and enjoyed the forest to the south and water to the north, east, and west. When we wanted to be more social, we walked to loop B and were greeted with all the sxs party scene one could want. :)
The hosts were excellent, and the facilities were clean.
We did appreciate *not* being on the south end against the trees as we loved basking in the sunshine (the south most spots were always pretty shady). Walking distance to cafes and a great dog groomer. Only a few minutes to more restaurants and shopping in Reedsport. We took a day trip to Coos Bay and loved coming back to our secluded paradise in Windy Cove. I’m fairly certain this particular campground is the best kept secret in the Oregon Dunes Recreation area.

Windy cove is one of several parks in the general vicinity. It’s just outside the ATV area so it is fairly quiet and avoids the blowing sand if the dunes up the road. Next time I’ll try the private park across the street. For not much more you get full hookups right on the water.
