Camping, hunting, hiking, and riding are all enjoyed here. There are all kinds of places to camp, some with easy access and some with rough roads. Check out Kaibab National Forest website for all rules. Get an OHV trail map from the Williams Visitor Center. Town is just 10 miles away from dry camping, and has great food, shops, and atmosphere. Close to the Grand Canyon.

Bill Williams Loop Road is one of many places in the Kaibab and Prescott National Forests, that you can camp and ride. The Arizona Forestry department does an excellent job of maintaining and labeling the trails. We spent two weeks, drove over 600 miles of trails, and still have so much more to see.

The forest is beautiful, and is "cleaned". You can collect wood for your fire. All designated camping areas have rock fire pits and cleared ground. It can get muddy when it rains, so know your exit plan if that happens.

Easier access camp sites are right off the Forest Road 108, at either the Hwy 73 entrance or the Devil Dog Rd entrance (currently closed for road construction). The best cell coverage is at any spot where you can clearly see Bob Williams Mountain (the one with the towers). The camp sites that are farther in the trees are a little rough to get to, but manageable. Cell service is almost not existent in these sites, but you only have ride/walk a short distance to get a signal.

Williams, the town, has plenty of places to get water, dump your tanks, buy groceries, go out to dinner, or just show the Route 66 tourist shops. At night, everything is lit with sparkly lights and they have horse drawn carriage rides. They are an OHV friendly town, and on the weekends you can see everyone's ride.

Beautiful but we were warned that the large sheep dogs were attacking dogs at camps when the sheep were coming through. Also one of the sheep dogs pooped at our camp and it had tapeworms in it

We stayed 31 Mar - 3 Apr and there were still patches of snow melting. Right on Coleman Lake about 2 miles on the Forest Service Road. Nights were low 30's and days 50-60's. Main Forest Service road was dry and solid for our Freightliner Semi, pulling a 41ft 5th wheel. Unfortunately, as soon as you tried to get off the main road, everything was VERY wet, with deep red mud, which made turning our long rig around very interesting (see photos).

We went for long hikes every day, looking for elk, deer and elk sheds. Saw many fresh elk and deer prints but no animals. Besides our turnaround pics, I've posted two of the campsite. We'd go again but wait till the snowmelt is over and the ground is firmer off the main FS road!!

We stayed not far from the Devil Dog exit off of I 40 just west of Williams AZ. This area has a mixture of Ponderosa pines and open spaces. Many flat areas to park. Great dark sky’s and blazing fast Verizon Cel signal. Just minutes from shopping in Williams and not too far from the Grand Canyon. We will stay here again.

Easy access. Good dirt roads. Camped in the tree line. Many spots available but not too close. The she were a bit of a nuisance but fascinating to watch. Great ATT reception when you have full view of Williams Mountain.
