Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 16, 2022No signs at entrance giving direction to loop with reserved site (No one at gate to check in with). Had to roam around campground; until I finally discovered loop containing my site!
Once at the site; 30 AMP plug only had a 10 AMP breaker! Fortunately, had a 50 to 30 AMP adaptor for 50 AMP service to allow connection to support my RV's electrical needs.
Site was not level as advertised. Needed three leveling pads on one side of trailer. So, not even close to being level.

Last week's front yard view from a hillside pull through site at Natchez Trace State Park in west Tennessee was awesome! The park was named for the Natchez Trace woodland path that was an important wilderness road during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The 48,000-plus acre park features several wilderness trails, camping, lodge and restaurant, villas and cabins, sporting (archery and firing range), horse-back riding with 250 miles of trails, and water front activities (swimming, boating, and fishing). The Pin Oak Campground is for RVs of any size with back in sites along the Pin Oak Lake, pull through sites on the hill with a great view of the lake, FHU, 50 amp, and 2 bath houses with laundry rooms. The only con is no cell or WiFi. I loved this place! Quiet and peaceful!

We've stayed at Natchez Trace State Park twice now, and we were well pleased both times. Campsites are clean and well maintained, campground is family oriented, quiet and peaceful. There are beautiful views and no matter where you are, the water is a quick walk from your campsite. There is a developed waterfront area with beach, playground and picnic pavilion, as well as undeveloped water front areas. Full hookups, fire ring, gravel pads, picnic tables. We camped at Natchez Trace State Park / Pin Oak Lake in a Motorhome.

This is a full hook-up state park right on a lake. When you enter the park, it's about a 14 mile drive to the campground. Roads are curved but paved and well maintained.
Each site has full hook-ups. Even though many of the sites are sloped, they did a very good job leveling the RV parking area.
Restrooms seem adequate and there was one washer and one dryer.
So, why not 5 stars. We arrived in mid-September, mid-week with no reservations. We drove down the 14 miles to the RV campground. As you enter the campground there is a booth but no attendant - not surprised. At the booth was a box with campground maps - empty. Just ahead was a sign to call a number, back at the lodge or office, of arriving with no reservations. We called on both an ATT and Verizon cell phone. Finally making connection, we were asked which site we wanted. How would we know - no maps and we were at the sign post entrance. We gave them the first spot we could see. They need all the general info and credit info and kept saying how bad the connection was at the campground.
Recommendation - either make an online reservation, or stop at the lodge/ office OR drive to the campground, record the phone number and go pick a spot and call.
I'm guessing on a beautiful summer day, this is a very nice campground.

Pretty good campground .Nice lake with swimming area.
GPS started taking us on a crazy and long backroad narrow route so we found another way and got there in one piece.

Beautiful campground with some sites waterfront. We were traveling I-40 and stopped here overnight in our 38' 5th wheel. I only gave it 4 stars because there's not much cell phone service and no data. The lady at the lodge said they are working on that. We would definitely stop again.

We were looking for a quiet place to spend a down day after a busy conference in Nashville. This fit the bill perfectly.
I would have a hard time imagining anyone having trouble getting into any site in the campground, regardless of size. Sites are well spaced apart and driveways have easy access from the road. We chose a site on the hill overlooking the lake with a great view but no shade.
My only real complaint about our stay is the petty $5 reservation fee we were charged...we didn't make a reservation, we paid at check in. It's only 5 bucks but it seems ridiculous that they can't figure out how to remove that charge...nobody else does that.
Cell service is almost non existent. If you don't have a reservation, pay at the ranger station just south of 40 near the entrance of the park. Otherwise you'll have to head to the Pin Oak Lodge or find the host on duty...they're off on Sunday.
This campground is 14 miles from 40, come provisioned for your stay or its a trek to the small town of Lexington. There is a small camp store about halfway into the park with firewood and standard convenience items.
Worth noting that there are no hiking trails near the campground. This campground is for boating, fishing, and relaxing.

We didn't have a reservation, just were passing through on the way home for a night. This CG is about a 20 minute drive from I-40. We didn't know what it would be like, but wow it's really nice. Campsites are level, gravel, and spaced apart pretty well. We lucked out and had a lakeside view (not crowded this time of year, midweek). Restrooms very clean. Fire pit was great. We want to come back again and explore the area.

We enjoyed the campground itself and would love to come back during warmer months to enjoy down time via the water, hiking, and other offerings such as horseback riding. However this experience was not during a 'down time'. We are working fulltime RVers and the cell signal was very weak. Our booster setup saved the day so that we could stay; it took our speed tests from .7/.2 down/up to 2/1.... barely workable, but at least streaming isn't part of our work requirements. Bottom line is it's a great park for a relaxing time with FHU and beautiful views.
