Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on November 14, 2023You have to go down Vulture peak road, then turn off at vulture mine road. There were lots of hiking trails and dirt roads everywhere. It was fairly easy finding a spot for our big rig, it's obvious where the camp spots are. The road keeps going, but I wouldn't take a big rig there. Wickenburg is less than 10 miles away, and they just about everything you need. We had a beautiful view of vulture peak too.

We've stayed at Vulture Peak multiple times over the years, and always with the same result. An extremely relaxing location off the grid, great dispersed sites, and quiet evenings among the Saguaros and Cholla.
There are several areas around that are BLM, and there are more campsites than the obvious ones you see right away. Always check ahead if you can, otherwise your rig might get some Arizona pin striping.

I stayed in mid-March 2015. A nice area just south of Wickenburg and its services. Some days there can be a bit of traffic, with horse trailers, people hauling ATVs in and out, trucks to set up events sponsored by the country club and, while I was there, someone shooting for hours a day. Pop...pop...pop...pop... This is state land, and the local scuttlebutt is that it will one day be developed into a park, which will probably mean fees and restrictions of some sort. My Verizon signal was good but slow. Not enough bandwidth.

This is now State Trust land and requires an inconvenient-to-get permit. Sheriffs deputies are enforcing compliance.

Nice spot with plenty of room for larger rigs. Some road noise but not much at night. Convenient to town, lots to do in the area. Will be back again.

Plenty of room in this cow pasture. But no cow pods. Interesting. We only saw cows at light. Our camp site is on grassland. Some other rigs around. All was quiet. Warm days and cool, quiet nights. Perfect.

When you first arrive the road is a little rough, but drivable. I saw 30 to 40' trailers being pulled in.
As soon as you pull in there are places to park. You can make the first 2 miles pretty easy with offshoots to camp. After 2 miles probably shouldn't try if you are pulling a trailer. But there are more spots further in to camp with tent and 4wd.
If your hiking towards the peak definitely have a pair of good hiking shoes or boots with a walking stick. The road or trails are covered with loose rock which will make you slip. To me hiking is what boondocking is all about.
One thing, you have to share with the ATV's and on the weekend there are plenty, but not overwhelming. On weekdays there are very few.
People who got spots made sure there was good distance between each other.
Night time was very quite. There must be a shooting range close by because in the day you could hear the sound of gunfire, but again not so bad.

Stayed here on May 3rd and 4th in our 28’ Alta TT. Very nice. Quiet. Took first spot. Close to Wickenburg. Great solar. No shade and breezy. But that kept the bugs away.
Great hiking all around. Lots of Razor trails too. But very quiet for our trip.
We expect coyote chorus tonight. Lots of small animals in the brush. And those small animals are mice and pack rats. So light up under your rigs and place Irish Spring bar soap inside storage areas to keep the rodents from chewing up your wiring.
Our neighbors warned us with horror stories. But this is a beautiful place and with a little foresight, you’ll have no problems.

We stayed here in early May, and overall have no complaints. There is a large area right when you turn off of Vulture Mine Road where several rigs were camped. Since we like a bit of privacy, we drove back about 3/4 of a mile and found a few sites that easily accommodated our 34 foot rig with a trailer. The only negative I can think of is that the road is rough throughout. It was quiet, peaceful, and we had a strong enough signal to stream videos and great internet access. We would definitely return here!
