Whitney Ghost Town was a Early 1900s railroad shipping center for the local mining camps. Located just south of SH 7, 11 miles southwest of Sumpter. A late 1890s/early 1900s logging camp, freighting and commercial center whose remains include a small handful of old buildings. When the sawmill burned in 1918, the town almost became deserted.
