Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on July 18, 2021A fenced, gravel parking lot for people to access the Old Spanish Trail. Busy on weekends, particularly in the mornings. Nice trail system for hikers, mountain bikers, and horses (NO ATVs ). Not really level, but works with jacks, blocks, etc.. Pleasant green area, but no shade in lot or on trails. Good Verizon

Peaceful.
Safe.
Atnt with 4g 👍🏾
Great views as the sunset.
Overall very happy I was here and you would do it again!
3 stars for cleanliness because of horse poop, but that's okay!
I didn't see tents, just people in their cars/RVs. Plenty of ants and bugs so avoid windows down.

Easy access coming from 50 whether you’re headed East or West. Nice overnight stop to get some rest after an all day drive. Open dirt/gravel lot where hiking trails leave from. Other vehicles including horse trailer were there when we pulled in but left later. Our 21’TT and another C Class we’re there and a van pulled in late night but still had plenty of room for more rigs. Big windstorm kicked up making it hella dusty but we’re in an rv so no biggie. Train runs by the place but other than that minimal noise. We’d utilize this spot again and check out the trail if we arrive early enough.

Great place to stay for a night. Fairly quiet with some road noise but not too bad. It is a parking lot so no individual sites. We got in around 4:30p and only one other trailer. It’s at the trailhead so a few ppl coming in and out to bike/hike until around 7p or so. By 8p there were about 5 other campers/vans spending the night. It was windy and dusty but didn’t ruin the experience. The sunset views and colors were amazing. Very little light pollution at night so the stars were nice and clear.

We were passing by grand junction and this was the closest BLM to us at the time. It’s a trailhead parking lot, so there were people in and out. We arrived around 7:45pm on a Saturday and most the hikers left by then. There were some late arrivals past midnight, and we unfortunately had a neighbor who played loud music the entire night. Sunday morning came and there were early hikers so expect noise and car doors slamming. There was also a foul smell in the area since it is near landfill. Wouldn’t stay here again. Next time I would probably drive a little further out for more peace and quiet.

This is a great spot, unfortunately, as we were working on our laptops, the ranger came by and installed no camping signs. Upon questioning him, he confirmed that this is a day-use area and overnight parking is not allowed.

This is a trailhead parking lot, not a campground! There is no camping allowed and especially NO campfires in the parking lot. Campendium please remove this trailhead from your app as an area for free camping. The Grand Junction area has a lot of BLM land available for dispersed camping. This trailhead parking lot is not one of them.
