This is an older state park. The structures probably date back to the 1930's I am guessing. Some are dilapidated, but the lodge is well kept up and fairly impressive. Good size lake for kayaking and fishing. The campsites are on a loop with 2 cross roads going through. Most are very spacious compared to other NP and SP's I have been to. The outer sites are definitely the best with only wilderness behind you. The sites are generally situated to give you a view into the woods, and not straight over at another campsite. Power and water were fine. The bathouse was a little bit of a hike from our site, but not terrible. The bathouse was dated, but everything worked and it was clean. No complaints at all. REALLY liked the privacy/spaciousness/vegetation. Would definitely go back.

Had a great time here. Older park, but park staff were friendly and had a freezby golf course. Not many campers. Wooded camping area

Four stars means we’d stay here again if on our journey.
Stopped for one night on our way to Kansas. About ;6 miles off I22. Mid April, lots of open sites. All sites level, nice space between sites. A bit older as others have noted...not a negative for us, just wanted to note it. Quite place. Looked like good hiking trails, but we didn’t have time to sample.

Spacious, secluded sites that are level. Very convenient to Oxford, MS. However, the state park itself leaves much to be desired. When we were there the lake was murky and stagnant, so we didn’t kayak, which was one reason we had chosen to camp here. The park only offers one hiking trail, but if you’re into disc golf, they have that. BUT, the ticks are awful. However, that IS part of camping, so do come prepared. Additionally, the bath houses are awful. They haven’t been updated in years, and they are in rough shape. This would be a fine place to camp if you have a bathroom in your RV. Tent campers, just be prepared.

Earl and I stayed at Wall Doxey one night as we were working our way back to Florida. The first impression on arriving is that this is a well kept campground. The check-in process was not very intuitive (to me at least). An unstaffed gatehouse is used by day guest to pay user fees on the honor system. Campers are asked to check in before setting up their campsite. But where?

I drove to our reserved site to find it was posted as such, but again there were signs asking that campers check in at the office. On the way in we passed a large lodge building that may have housed the office so we returned to the lodge and approached a window where my advanced reservation was acknowledged and I was politely directed to proceed to the site. All of this took about 30 minutes. Maybe it is just me, but I did not find the check in process clear or hassle free.

Site 2 of the new section was level with water and power. Situated in dense woods along the western edge of the Holly Springs National Forest the site was dark even in the late afternoon and the views were limited to thick forest. Not much else to see and other campsites were well screened.

It seemed Earl and I were the only campers in that area of the park. There may have been others but if so, they were widely dispersed. In fact as it darkened, our site felt a little lonely and "Blair Witch Project" like in character.

I would only stay here again if passing through. In fact I would probably plan a different route that offered more choices of campgrounds. Not that Wall Doxey was terrible...but rather, there was nothing memorable about this stay.

Holiday weekend and we felt lucky to get in. It’s 95 degrees and our long-haired German Shepherd cannot sleep without AC so we are very limited. This park has MONSTER ticks, lots of kids and lots of reserved spots. It is really convenient and glad we found it. Feels like we are in a tropical rain forest! Overall, it’s great for overnight. Would I drive from Colorado to camp here? Umm, NO! For a place to overnight, have a cocktail and move on? Yes.

Arrived about 5pm, 0park was almost deserted, two rv's in their area. I paid the $15 overnight camping fee in the honor box. Parked my van in the area near the cabins.

Park and facilities looked as if they hadn't been attended to in quite a while, perhaps because it's March.

Park served its purpose, quiet, relaxing overnight stay, with no one else around. Passing cars on rural highway could be heard, probably only because everything else was so quiet.

We arrived pretty late at night without a reservation. There wasn’t really any instructions for honor box payments for the campsite (only for the park) so we just put our payment in the envelope available. Even though it was Memorial Day weekend there were some empty spots. It was hard to tell though which were actually taken for that night or were already placed for the next day (since it was so late). We found a place and had some problems backing in because things are narrow and it was dark. But I mean I mean it’s to be expected. We got there way later than most people for an overnight stop. We just wanted some AC!

For what we used the sites were wonderful. Narrow, but deep. Spaced out well. Everyone was really nice as well. I would definitely stay again.

Since we were here during COVID restrictions, we do not about bathroom quality or cleanliness.

Quiet area. Primitive fire pit without a grill was a disappointment. The site listed all sites also have a grill but ours did not. Level site but some of the roads to get to the site were rough.

We just drove through for the night with our dogs, only four other people camping so nice and quiet. No one was at the gate when we arrived, only saw one forest service staff member the next morning.

PROS- Easy to find, quiet and relaxing, nice spacious spots with a picnic table, fireplace and small grill, all wooded with lots of shade. Convenient dump station on the way out. Grass field near tent area that our dogs could run in. Small parking lot for extra cars. Electric and water worked well at our site.

CONS- Bathrooms/showers available but not maintained, the showers only had one setting on them, very hot!! Bathrooms by the lake weren't usable, toilets backed up and dirty. Some of the paved roads have tree roots growing under them making the roads uneven. There is a boardwalk on the lake but dangerous for small kids as half of the railings are rotted or have fallen off.
