“with 30 handcarts available for rent”
South Valley Farms (SVF) is an almond and pistachio farm. Though SVF does not produce a conducive atmosphere for onsite treks, the farm recognizes the importance of having positive activities for youth. Because of the demand for handcarts in California, SVF decided to provide a service by purchasing, maintaining, storing, and renting handcarts on a trailer which can be taken to your trekking site. South Valley Farms has 30 handcarts available for stake or ward groups to rent for pioneer treks. Each handcart box is four feet wide, five feet long and 16 inches deep. Attached to the front of each handcart is a 25-foot cotton rope, allowing several people to pull the cart. These handcarts were built to handle the gear for 10-12 people. There is a $15 charge per person for handcart and site maintenance. Detailed information about each site, as well as polices and planning information can be found in the Handbook for Trek Leaders.
