Follow the battles between the coal miners and mine operators in the two-story stone jail built in 1896 and now housing mining displays. Fifty fur men, women and children were killed in 10 days during labor disputes. Learn the Walsenburg story of Bob Ford, killer of outlaw Jesse James, and Mary "Mother" Jones, labor leader, and "the most dangerous woman in America". Open jail cells to see the artifacts of the coal mining era. This was a fun stop. It is small and quant but nice. The man who runs it is great! And we enjoyed talking with home greatly. The cost was $2 an adult and $1 for teens. Kids under 12 were free.
