“1,000 Yards of Shoreline!”

Hawaiian for "Bulging Eyes", this beach is located below Makapu'u Point, a projection of land marking Hawaii's easternmost tip. This is a very popular beach for bodysurfing but large waves and riptides can make swimming hazardous. Rabbit Island sits just offshore and makes this beach very picturesque.

Services and Amenities Lifeguards Sand and reef areas Picnic areas BBQ grills Restrooms Showers Phones Poor swimming Good bodysurfing.

Cautions:
High surf, fierce shore break, and strong undertoe often occur during the winter months. Check with the lifeguards regarding ocean conditions before entering the water. Obey all postings and warnings.
