“pretty forested camping near Mt Adams”
This moderately used trail is located on the lower southern slopes of Mt. Adams. The trail descends through lava flows and young forests, forming an access route between Gotchen Creek Trail #40 and Cold Springs Camp located near the timberline on Mt. Adams. This trail's features include wildflowers viewing and the A.G. Aiken Lava Flow. Much of the trail travels through an area heavily burned in the Cold Springs Fire of 2008. Users should use caution, as recent fire activity has loosened the tread. Directions: Trail can be accessed from Cold Springs campground just south of the Mt. Adams Wilderness where South Climb trail #183 and Cold Springs trail #72 depart, Gotchen Creek Trail #40, or Forest Road 8040500.
