The Enchantments is a basin of glacier lakes amidst the Cascade peaks, an extremely popular hiking and backpacking destination during the summer months. Overnight stay is recommended, but permits must be reserved in advance and are extremely difficult to get; day hike permits are easily obtained. There are two ways to access the area: The Snow Lakes trailhead (4 miles out of Leavenworth) or the Lake Stuart trailhead (8 miles out of Leavenworth).
