Also there is a pull off on the other side of the road to allow you to scout the location before pulling in. A smaller vehicle could go south on the dirt road to get away from the highway, but turn around options are limited for bigger vehicles.

Right off the highway, can’t beat it for access. We decided to camp close to the highway because we’re in a big rig, but after walking it the next morning there is definitely space further down. Only ones there for the night. Felt safe and the views were beautiful. I could see it being a problem with snakes when in season. Great cell service. Everything you’d want in a boondocking experience, I just wouldn’t stay for a multiple days because of location. Definitely more of a passing through kind of site.

Pulled off on the trip from Twenty Nine Palms/Joshua Tree. Only people there. Very flat. Unlimited space. Highway noise decreased during the night. Some train noise. A nice in route spot. Probably not a long term stay.

Arrived late but found it, this morning I see we could have traveled much further back from main road. Perfect overnight stop, we were only ones here.

This was the perfect stop between Joshua Tree and Parker. Easy access just off the road and great cell signal (since we could see the tower from our trailer)
We'd be back when we could stay a few nights longer and go a bit deeper toward the mountains.
There was a bit of highway noise and a train that went by, but nothing that disturbed our time there.

Every star in the sky! I tent camped in utter solitude. Nobody around the Friday night before Memorial Day. Lots of places with firm level sandy ground. Very few insects and no dangerous wildlife encountered on my stay.
