Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on November 14, 2021River Town Campground is very conveniently located on Old Highway 61 just south of Vicksburg. Most GPS systems will send the camper through a residential subdivision to avoid making a U-turn on Highway 61, but that's not necessary as the U-turn is easily made on this highway.
River Town doesn't accept reservations on-line, so call ahead to make reservations -- no deposit is necessary. Just pay upon arrival. I paid $28 per night, which includes an AAA discount. In August, there were plenty of empty sites (it's HOT in Mississippi during August).
The campground has approximately 150 sites, and the majority of those are for permanent residents that park around the perimeter of the grounds. The park is very quiet, no barking dogs or loud vehicles. The campground is well maintained, clean, and mowed frequently. Each site has full hook-ups. The hook-ups are located at the rear of each site, which was fine for my little teardrop camper, but it might be a problem for large rigs because they would need long hoses. Each site has a picnic table, but no other amenities. I disposed of my trash at the dumpster near the office, but the permanent folks put their trash bags at the edge of their sites, and it is picked up by management around 7 a.m.
There is a small swimming pool, suitable for children (but not for adults who want to swim laps), and a playground. This area is clean. The shower house is clean with 3 showers and 3 toilets (in the ladies' side). There is also a laundry room in the same building as the office, but I didn't check it out.
My iPhone 6 had one or two bars most of the time; that usually dropped to no bars from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day. A sign in the office notes the park does NOT have cable.

This campground has good space between units and an onsite store. People are friendly and the price is fair. This is a good place for long or short term stay.

We stayed at the casino when we were through here last fall and would definitely recommend Rivertown Rose Campground over the casino. Bigger spaces, GREAT wifi, super staff, etc.

We stayed for a week in May, 2021. Getting there was easy. It is about 5 miles from I-20 on US-61. The sites are huge - we had a front lawn that was about 60x20. There was no noticable road noise. Access was excellent. We are 57' overall and had no trouble getting into or out of the site. The site was gravel and pretty level side to side. The entire campground slopes toward the Mississippi River so drainage is good. The edges (back and sides) of the campground appear to be seasonal campers, but there are plenty of other sites. The utility hookups were in good condition.
The campground is very well maintained and clean. Staff members regularly cruise through the campground and pick up trash (including bagged household trash.) They also pick up and deliver propane tanks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The laundry room was clean with a TV and comfortable seats. There were 4 washers and 4 dryers. The laundry cost was low -$1 for washers and $1.50 for 45 minutes on the dryers. NOTE: Don't put money in the dryers until after you start them - that sounds crazy but it is true.
The campground location is great. 10 minutes to Vicksburg NMP, five minutes to Walmart, 15 minutes to downtown Vicksburg, and 6 minutes to I-20.
We would definitely stay there again.

We stopped for the night. Good level spot with lots of room between. Bathhouse was older but clean. We couldn’t get reservation at the casino (they wouldn’t pick up the phone) and glad we stayed here after seeing the tight entrance at casino campground.

No fire rings. There is a picnic table. Table was in great shape. The pool was closed for the season. Staff in the office were friendly and helpful. They allowed us to receive mail while here along with Amazon boxes. There are quite a few permanent campers here but all are very well maintained and their area kept up.
Nice trees through the campground but need to trimmed so the branches do not hit the roof of the trailers. Nice spacing between the sites. Very quiet. Sites are very level and plenty big enough for our dually truck and 42’ fifth wheel. All hook ups are at the very back of the site so park your RV at the end of the site.
Lots of ants on the utility poles. Very dusty due to dirt/ gravel roads. The speed limit is not enforced and in fact, staff of the park go very fast through the park which only makes the dust worst. We were there on a day when they mowed and our truck was so dirty from the dust, we had to wash the windows before we could drive it.
Internet did not work the first 6 days we were here. After that, it worked about 70% of the time. The cable worked about 80% of the time.
