Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on March 27, 2021Arrived in late March and it was cold, windy and wet. Area was wooded and quite however Shady Grove is a challenge to get large rigs into.
I intend to go back when leaves are green and it is a little warmer. I believe that there is a lot to do in and around Tenkiller State Park and our next experience will be much better.

Didn't have any trouble getting our toyhauler in this loop, but some of the others would be a challenge for big rigs. Stayed here in early April so it was really quiet. Beautiful Lake!

We stayed in the shady grove loop. First pull through site as you come in the loop. Overall the site was fine. Level enough, a concrete pad and stable electric. A very large 3 axle rig had a very hard time getting into the site next to us due the tightness of roads and sites. The bathhouses are just awful, I don't think they've cleaned or swept out in years. There was no electricity in the bathhouse. The large gatherind pavilion is in disrepair. It feels like this campground loop has been abandoned minus the electric and sewer hookups. This would not be a good site for a rig without a bathroom or tent camping. The views are nice, the sky was clear our first night and without any light pollution so there were tons of stars to see.

We reserved for 3 nights but left after our first night. We were in the Shady Grove loop. The cement pad had a drop off on the stair side of our camper. It was slightly uphill to the sewer connection, so we had to hold up the hose to get it to drain (yes, we have the accordion hose supports!) Our site had no fire ring. The site next to us had a broken picnic bench. Restrooms/showers had no water or power and looked as if they hadn’t worked in years. There was a huge, beautiful pavilion (maybe built by WPA?), but the roof was disintegrating and a tree had fallen on it and never been removed. Ten killer Lake was absolutely beautiful. We found it sad that the campground was in such poor condition. We drove through the Fox Squirrel campground, and it looked better. This was our first experience in Oklahoma, and it may be our last.

The campsite was backwards. Unusable picnic table and fire ring. I don’t know about the rest of you all but our hookups are on the drivers side and the door is on passenger side. The picnic table and fire ring were both on the drivers side by the hookups?!!

Judging from all the other reviews, the Fox Squirrel loop is the place to be. Fairly level cement pad and very easy to back in. While we had no view of the lake, it was an easy stroll to it and we really enjoyed the Lakeshore Trail near sunset. Full hookup and everything was in good shape. No sign of the host while we were there, but only 3 of us in the entire loop. Other than a plastic bag stuck in the bushes behind us, the site was very clean. Have no comment on state of restrooms as we didn’t use them.
