Overview In the early 1980s, the Baker Dam Recreation Area was developed to take advantage of the recreational opportunities provided by the reservoir. Increased public demand led to an expansion of the recreation area in 1994 that included enlarging the campground and adding a day use section. Today, the recreation area serves as a base camp to enjoy not only the reservoir, but adjacent public lands as well. Please protect your resources by acting responsibly and following the rules. Recreation Baker Dam Reservoir is known for its cold water game fish. It is annually stocked by the UDWR with rainbow and brown trout. Migratory and year-round birds enjoy the reservoir’s open water and the Santa Clara River’s riparian habitat. View birds at the reservoir as well as along the Overlook Trails. Look for Eagles, Gray Flycatchers, Herons, and other waterfowl. Hunting is permitted on public lands in accordance with Utah state laws and regulations outside of recreation area. There are opportunities to hunt for deer, quail, and rabbit. Keep off highway vehicles on existing roads and trails. OHVs may travel on BLM managed lands and the Dixie National Forest on existing roads and trails; however, OHV use is not permitted within the recreation area. Please be informed of all laws and regulations relating to OHVs. Facilities Baker Dam Reservoir is known for its cold water game fish. It is annually stocked by the UDWR with rainbow and brown trout. We stumbled on this place because we were an hour late in trying for a first come first serve site at Snow Canyon (time change!!!) - and I am so glad we were! This small campground is very lovely with lots of trees and shrubs. A fire pit and picnic table at each site. Our outside ring site was not very level (3 levelers needed) and the inners ones looked even less level. The sites are dirt, so it was a little muddy here after the rain. In the summer I would recommend site 5 as it backs under some really nice trees would say the 25 foot max is fairly realistic here as the first turn is pretty narrow. There is a big rig in here right now, though, so maybe not? The drive up the valley is very beautiful and the Veyo pies are fabulous.

Arrived at the campground on Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend. There were several sites available. The campground is a basic no amenities campground but was clean, quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed the views and surrounding hiking/biking trails. The bathrooms were basic but no toilet paper so bring your own. Some sites have trees for shade. Lots of space between sites for privacy. Can't remember how much cell service but we were alike to stream, call and text.

Much cooler than St George, big sites, and with my Access pass only $6 a nite. Site 5 was taken, however Site 17 had plenty of shade as well as a table, fire ring, and a short hop to the bathrooms, yes, take your own toilet paper!

Had intended to spend the night at this BLM campground. However after arriving and driving thru, decided it was not for me. Loop road had obstacle boulders in roadway, may high center a sedan automobile. RR was dirty and lots of flies inside. Asked another camper if mosquitoes were around - he said yes, from stagnant irrigation canal close by. At that point decided to move on.

Arrived at 4:30ish on a weekday, easy to find campsite. Fire pit, picnic benches and vault toilets but no water. Good tree coverage, not too windy, 45 min from St. George. Easy to pitch a tent and quiet even though campsites are pretty close together. Overall nothing too amazing- just a basic campsite but if you are looking for an easy campsite on the way to/leaving Zion or Bryce area (which can be hard) this isn’t a bad one.

Very nice, well maintained campground. Nice that it was open in winter. Just a bit of snow on the ground when we were here in December. Sites are quiet and spread out. Most are fairly level. Don’t know if the restroom was open because we are self-contained. Close to Mountain Meadows Massacre site.

Gorgeous area and great sites. I wish I had discovered this sooner. I have been camping at Snow Canyon and the sites are pretty on top of each other and there is a lot of traffic and this is only 15-20 minutes from snow canyon. Sites are well spread out and there’s gorgeous views. Super peaceful on a Sunday eve in Feb

We found this campground on our way through St George and loved our experience. It is a very quiet campground with good spacing and tree coverage between sites. There was still plenty of toilet paper left although we did have some if needed. Make your reservation online before arriving or once you get to the campground. We had t mobile and Verizon Cell phones and had great service.
