This is not meant to be an rv park exactly, but worked really well as one! This is a shooting range that has open fields for boondocking and a concrete pad/loading dock area near water and 30A electrical that worked great for our needs. We could have boondocked, the weather was cool enough over memorial day weekend to do so - in fact, overnight the temps got quite low! In the 50s! It was very nice. Cows around make themselves known and are clearly not all that accustomed to many people around. They were curious about us through the fence line although they were not at all bothered by sounds of guns. Frogs at night from the nearby pond serenaded us off to sleep with the windows open.
This is a destination RV parking setup and less of a build a campfire, go hiking in the state park forest kind of park although some others were fishing in the pond while we were here. The reason you come here is to shoot on their many gun ranges (180 acres), the RV park area is a bonus. The ranges are well laid out, easy to move between with great covered areas and are well maintained, both the facilities and the ranges. Both are very clean and nicely outfitted. There is one range that allows tactical (rapid fire etc) shooting, a dedicated 25 yard pistol range and a 100 yard rifle range. Good shooting benches on the rifle range. Nice pro shop. At the moment due to the ammo shortage they are unable to rent out their weapons but normally do rentals and ammo sales. There are tall berms between ranges and between the range area and the RV parking area and outside communities to dampen the sound of the gunfire. There is a restroom available inside the pro shop during business hours (8-5).
The distance to the electric connection was a bit far from the loading dock - an extension cord around the corner of the fence to the electrical connection box worked just fine, but plan on needing a longer electrical cord. It was so nice to have electrical here because we expected not to have it at all. Water connection reasonably close in the dock area and accessible. We needed both of our 25 ft water lines to reach it, but that is the case at many parks too because of where our water connects.
We are harvest host members, so we paid $20 for the electric/water, camped free as HH and bought three day passes for $25 each for the shooting range. They also offer water/electric hookups and rv camping to the public for $40 and dry camping for $20, not only for harvest host members.
So worth it and we will be back!
Helpful host, very friendly staff and comprehensive shooting ranges.
There is a tight turn in when you come from the south (we did not but another rig did).
Cell service was not great out here but minimally usable. AT&T - 2-13 Mbps with 2 Mbps speed upload , Sprint 2-4 Mbps with .5 upload speed, Verizon 1-2 Mbps with barely usable upload speed, T-mobile 1-3 Mbps with .5-1.5 Mbps upload speed. This is not a place we would probably camp during the work week if remote working for several night or a week stay unless we were relying on our AT&T signal which was the fastest of the providers. You come here more to be outside and enjoy the shooting ranges but can also get basic connectivity for google searches, trip routing, calls and basic emails. You can't stream Netflix here or do intensive remote working but for basic phone and computer functions the cellular internet connection was good enough. We did not see any open wifi connections from the campground/pro shop/range here, nor did we ask if there were any.
This was a great experience and the RV area when we paid for hookups was perfect for our needs.
