“unwind at the living room”
This is SLC-initiation by a little bit trick to find trail. However, lots of people find this place because it's a cool place for the college kids to spend a weekend evening—no parents! The trailhead is near the Natural History Museum of Utah, just off the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Head up towards the mouth of Georges Hollow, and stay to the right. The trail will then take you to the left, up to a viewpoint at Finger Rock. Continue on the trail and you'll eventually end up at the stacked stones that make for a luxurious hiking destination. If you're lucky, you'll even find a remote or two to change the sunset station.
Reviews
Decently popular hike, passed by a lot of people. It's a well-worn path but there's no signage, but the others hiking here were helpful in letting us know we were on the right path. Saw lots of cute dogs on the trail. I will say that it was really snowy on the trail and coming back down was incredibly slippery for someone just wearing sneakers. We didn't make it all the way to the living room itself, which was a bummer since it looked super rad with the rocks and the view, but even going halfway up the trail offered some awesome scenery.
