A very cool unusual camp ground in that it is a Lutheran camp ground for kids. Very quiet and remote. Travel down a 2 mile dirt road to camp. Scenic views and deer everywhere. Clean facilities. The manager Mike does a great job of running the place. Located in the middle of Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon. Cedar City is 35 miles away. Large city with everything you need. Duck Creek Village 12 miles away. Restaurant and ATV rentals. Stayed here two weeks and will come back. Note: camp sites are dirt.

Our week at Camp Lutherwood gave us great views off the beaten path of the highway between Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP and a level site with access to the full service kitchen including a sink, fridge, freezer and grill. The host, Mike, was such a nice guy and everyone we met were so kind as well. So many things to do in the area besides the national parks! 50 mins to Bryce, about 1 hr 15 mins to Zion. Two miles of decently maintained gravel off the highway to get to the camp.

The only downsides were the bathrooms weren’t cleaned as well as we would’ve liked. My husband found cigarette ashes in the bathroom that were there for days, etc. The sites could have been kept up a bit more, but they weren’t horrible. Had spotty service of two bars and 3G, had to go to the town (Hatch) down the road to get great internet access. Unless you wanted to sit in the office or laundry room at the campsite, ha. Also while you’re in Hatch, wonder around MugWumps and chat with the owner, just a sweet lady with lots of stories :)

We’d definitely stay again. Great weekly price with Passport America.

Camp Lutherwood is an awesome hidden gem within of 5 miles of Duck Creek and everything the area has to offer. Tucked into a small canyon 2 miles off of hwy 14 and 89. The road is dusty gravel with some tight turns, but it's plenty wide. I did it, in the dark in a 40 foot Class-A towing a car on a dolly with no trouble at all. Bryce is a ~1hr easy drive, Zion is about the same. Super friendly folks, met lots of great people. Fire pits don't seem to be available at all sites, but there are communal ones that seem to be fired up most nights. Hookups are great, clean, modern and functional.

Stayed July 16-18, 2020
My sister and her family rented a 30 foot motor-home and it was their first time camping, so they really wanted hook-ups. I brought my 16 foot pop-up that extends to 27 feet. I called the day before, and the camp host said that he had spots available that were next to each other. It was also fine that I was coming Thursday-Saturday, and she was staying Friday-Sunday. Super wonderful camp host. No extra charges for extra people. We didn't leave until 6:00PM on Saturday.

Google maps could find the camp, but the navigation system in my 2018 Chevrolet vehicle could not. Posted signs leading to the camp could have been better, but by using the google map on my phone, we were fine.

Very few trees in the the actual area where we parked the vehicles, but the hills/mountains were very close and full of trees, so my kids took the hammock, found a great spot, and hung out there for hours. We brought our own basketball and volleyball for the kids. There is a basketball hoop so they played that a lot. The volleyball posts are in the ground, but the net is missing. They have horseshoes, and baseball area (bring your own stuff). 1 playground that needs updating. We also went to Mammoth Cave and Cascade Falls (both about 15 miles from Camp Lutherwood).

Campground was very clean. Bathrooms and showers were clean and smelled nice. Small changing area in front of the showers made it very convenient to change clothes and set my stuff while I showered. Accessible bathroom and shower are located in the building.

At each campsite is a standing tower that lights up at night. The tower has a regular household plug, a 30 AMP plug and a 50 AMP plug. At the base of the tower is the water hook-up. Near the side of the tower is the sewer hook-up. Campsite is large and has a picnic table. Small incline, so a few blocks needed under tires to level camper. No fire pits or BBQ grills at the individual sites. Deer wander in and out all evening and will eat out of your hand.

Up at the office is a large stone area with a fire pit in the middle that they let us use to roast marshmallows. It also has a water hose hooked up nearby so that we could spray down the fire and ashes when we were done.

We stayed here when we visited Bryce Canyon (about 40 minutes away). The RV camp is down a 2 mile gravel road, but it’s in fairly decent shape and there isn’t any steep inclines. The sites are close together, right beside each other. I don’t think the dump station was operating when we were there, at least it wasn’t draining properly and had dump water sitting on top of it so we didn’t even try it. There are showers which are a little dated, but it did the job. The handicap shower leaks out onto the bathroom floor and gets slippery so be careful. The bathrooms are relatively clean, but I’m not positive that they’re fully cleaned daily. They leave cleaner out in case you want to clean them yourself. The laundry and kitchen was closed due to Covid. There are a lot of deer that will come around the site, almost to your RV m, which was pretty cool. I don’t remember seeing any fire pits, but there were picnic tables.

We enjoyed our stay here and found the staff to be very pleasant and accommodating.

We were travelling with another couple and requested neighboring campsites when we made our reservations many many months ago; and the Lutherwood staff came through!

The sites are advertised as full hook up and all of the hookups were present and in good functioning order.

This campground is centrally located among several 'must see' attractions in Utah. Cedar Breaks National Monument, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Grand Escalante. Glen Canyon and Navajo Bridge. Consequently, we really only spent the few 'down hours' of each day at Lutherwood.

During those 'down hours' we did see a lot of deer in the campground itself and a herd of elk with a huge bull elk while travelling the dirt road into the campground.

The campground itself is tightly packed and offers very little privacy between sites, so we got to know our campground neighbors fairly well, and in a few cases, much better than we wanted to. This is really the only reason for the 3-Star rating.

While there was nothing really 'wrong' or 'bad' with Camp Lutherwood, it just isn't as spectacular, secluded or private as the campgrounds I would give 5-Stars to. So don't avoid this campground just because of the low star count ... just know what to expect, and you will find that it is a great place to rest your head in between busy days of visiting some of the most coveted public lands in the U.S.

Camp Lutherwood is clean and functional and delivers exactly what it advertises, but the campground itself is not the star of the show here. The true star is the campground's location in the center of all of those truly spectacular attractions I listed earlier.

CL offers a monthly rate that we decided to tap into. We arrived September 10 and headed out on Oct 5th as this was the last day they were officially open for the season. Staff is awesome as are most of the longtime campers who regularly stay here for the season.
Restrooms were clean, but they could use updating.
The CL valley is secluded and very quiet at night. The mule deer are too friendly and outnumbered the campers.
Having stayed the month, I con honestly say that I would have liked to stay longer.
We got to extensively explore the area and could write a book on the experience.
The only negatives were:
The dusty access road
Intermittent ATT service

My husband picked this place, and I was skeptical, but it turned out to be a very nice place to stay. It’s 2 miles back on a dirt road, and all the sites are dirt/gravel. We had space and did not feel packed in. The facilities are very nice and the host was beyond helpful!
The things I loved most was the quiet at night, and being able to see stars, lots of stars at night. The bonus was when Mule deer came to visit each night.
