“Camping on Lake Mendocino”

Chekaka Recreation Area is situated on Lake Mendocino in California's Mendocino Range, where redwood forests meet wine country. The lake is formed by the Coyote Dam on the Russian River. A wide variety of recreational opportunities is available, including boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. There are 21 sites for tents or RVs up to 35 feet (no hookups). Picnic tables, lantern hangers, and fire grills are provided. Drinking water, vault toilets, and a playground are available. A boat ramp is nearby. Leashed pets are permitted.

Not sure why, but this campground is definitely closed, locked gates and all.
