Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on August 19, 2019This campground is a hidden gem! I am betting it is packed in the summer with families.
Note...this campground no longer takes Passport America.
The campground roads are gravel. In the full hookup area, you are parked on a 3" high concrete pad (pull through) with a concrete patio. We had trouble maneuvering our 40 foot RV on to the pad, we didn't want the tires to slip off the 3" ledge and there were trees to work around. It took a good deal of back and forth to get situated. But once in place, it was just fine. The sites were nicely spaced. Each site also has a cute charcoal grill.
The electric and water only sites are closer to the river and packed tighter together. You are parked on gravel. There are also a lot of trees for shade. A big rig would probably not fit.
There are also a lot of cabins available for rent. I didn't peer into any of these.
Other amenities include a pool (not heated in April, although open...a heated pool would have given this place five stars) and a splash pad for kids. There are multiple playgrounds. There is also river access. They have a driving range and a putting green.
There is NO VERIZON in this campground. A Tracfone (a flip phone no less) on AT&T's towers would give 2 bars of 3G about half the time. But AT&T must work, the owner had an iPhone 6 that he uses.
There were 5 channels of over the air TV, all from the ION lineup. If you want QVC or HSN, you are all set.
I can't address the speed of the WiFi in the campground. They had had a lightening strike the week before our arrival that took out their cable modem, We could easily see the hotspots from our coach, but there wasn't any service. The campground office did have WiFi which we utilized, but it was slow at times. And we were the only ones there in early April.
We would have spent a week here, but the lack of easily accessible Internet made getting any work done impossible. This is not the campground's fault...blame Mother Nature. The owner was very gracious about returning our money for the remainder of our stay when we decided to leave early because of the Internet issues.
There is some road noise
The laundry room was clean. $1.00 for a wash and $1.25 for a dry. I was surprised that there were only two washers and two dryers.
This was a gorgeous place to stay and admire the hills. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Tent camped here 2 nights. Tent sites have a lot of shade due to the large oak trees throughout. Most tent sites are a short walk to the Nueces River. The river in this area is not deep so great place for shallow swimming for children and dogs. Electric, water & wi-fi. If you come after Sept. 15 rates drop and much less crowded. Apparently this place is very popular in the summer. Bathroom/shower facilities.

We had an great stay at this campground. The river was so clear and shallow the kids loved it. The pool and splash pad were a great when we weren’t at the river. Only downside of this stay was a lot of sand burrs and goat heads in the “grass” area of the rv spot. We had dogs, so every time they needed outside they were covered in them. But that was the only bad thing. The people there are very kind!

We had a group trip planned March 2020...cancelled because of coronavirus outbreak...owner refused to refund deposit despite the unexpected and unforeseeable need to cancel in light of the current prohibition on group gatherings and government guidance regarding travel.
There was literally nothing to do there. Yes, it was very quiet, but no pool, closest town is 35 miles away for groceries, just not the right place to be. Owner was not going to refund us the last 2 weeks of our month reservation, so we decided to take the kids & we left. We would not come back here.
